Why Do You Want to Study Accounting: a Dream Career

Accounting has been my career choice since I was twelve years old. Accounting is the process of recording financial transactions for any business or person. The accounting process includes summarizing, analyzing and reporting transactions to oversight companies, regulators and tax collection entities. The financial statements used in accounting are a summary of financial transactions over an accounting period, summarizing a company's operations, and financial position, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. I am writing about 'Why do you want to study accounting?' in this essay to share personal intentions and thoughts about my future career. Also, I will write about the importance of accounting in business in this essay.

Growing up my family always told me that “Accounting is one of the best jobs out there.” Everytime my aunt would visit from Poland she would ask me: “Have you decided whether or not you will become an accountant?”, always hoping i would be just like her. Everyone would tell me that’s the job I should strive for since I always enjoyed math. I figured it was the perfect job out there for me. Knowing that it was a big possibility of actually being my future career I started taking classes that would help me excel. Even as a senior now I’m taking an accounting class and I absolutely love it. 

The Importance of Accounting in Business: My Career

Accounting is such as language business. Every companies must have their own accounting report according with every payment or cash received. Therefore, we more understanding about our business’s progress rate. Accounting is essentially defined as the process of identifying, measuring and communicating financial facts to help its users make informed judgment and selections. It additionally includes recording, classifying, summarizing and decoding financial transactions and events approximately economic entities in a giant manner. Accounting revolves from the recognition of accountable events, valuation of those events, journalizing them in a chronological series, posting them to ledgers, guidance of monetary statements, to economic announcement analysis. These processes also are accomplished according with installed accounting guidelines and requirements. Accounting information use to identify our financial statement and making important decisions for business.

One of the key benefits of accounting is that it helps businesses to track their expenses and income accurately. This information is critical for making strategic decisions, such as identifying areas where costs can be cut, or where new investments should be made. Additionally, accounting helps businesses to stay organized, allowing them to quickly and easily access the financial data they need, without having to spend hours sifting through paperwork. In many countries, businesses are required to keep detailed records of their financial activities, which can be used by auditors and tax authorities to ensure that they are complying with the law. There are many advantages of being an accountant. Accounting is all about managing money. Every business and organization needs an accountant to handle its finances. The demand for professionals in this field is always constant, spanning across all industries, creating career longevity and job security. As long as businesses exist and people need help with taxes, there will always be a demand for accountants. Accounting tends to be a universal need. Everyone could use the service of an accountant, from farmers to software development companies. This gives accountants flexibility when it comes to where they are able to choose their careers in different industries, or even becoming self-employed. Those a little higher in the accounting and finance industry can earn hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars each year. The dream of being your own boss is very possible. As such, starting your own accounting firm is very much possible if anyone ever wanted to become an entrepreneur, the possibility of becoming your own boss very much a dream come true. As well as the opportunity of advancement, you’re able to increase your responsibilities and challenges.

There are also some disadvantages. Once you become an accountant, the education continues once you’ve earned your degree. To progress in your career, you need to plan on continuing your education in order to be able to keep up with the constant changes in the industry, as well as keeping your mind sharp. The usual work requires a lot of investigating and math, which start to become irritating and stressful after a while especially after sitting in an office all day. During the busy season, long days and weekends work become frequent as accountants work on their clients’ finances. When you’re responsible for an organization’s finances, there is bound to be some pressure. It’s just part of the job. But that pressure and stress can have a negative impact on your overall mental health, and deserves to be taken care of and considered. This type of work environment might not be suited for a sociable person who enjoys conversing with others regularly. Many accounting jobs are sedentary. They require you to sit at a computer for extended periods of time throughout the day.

Overall, becoming an accountant is one of my biggest goals. I see why accounting is crucial for businesses. My hope is to go to Baruch for college in New York City, where I will study accounting and take my Certified Public Accountant exam. After that I will look for a job and when I do I will also go back to school to study actuarial science, after which I will hopefully become an actuary. In which the salary will be a minimum of $150,00 a year.
