My Dream to Become a Doctor: Affordable Healthcare for All
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”. I want to help those people who cannot afford it, and provide them with affordable healthcare. A while ago, my aunt was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer Stage IV. After the diagnosis, she survived for another year. This personal experience has led to my interest in the field of medicine. I learned that being a doctor doesn’t mean only studying, but it is a branched study that involves researching there are a lot more inventions to come in the future and I would need to have the skill to deal with stressful situations, the advancement of artificial intelligence gives a form to the future of medicine which substantially strengthened my passion and curiosity to learn more about the functioning of our body. At that moment, I found the passion to save lives. My personal experience with my aunt's cancer diagnosis led to my dream to become a doctor, and through virtual experiences and volunteering, I have developed the skills and passion necessary to pursue my goal of providing affordable healthcare to those in need, which I have elaborated upon in my dream to become a doctor essay.
I have a very probing nature and passion for problem-solving and my never-ending curiosity and fascination about the human body, which has led to my application to the field of medicine. I had explored these additionally when I did 2 virtual experiences, where I spent shadowing professionals from oncology, Orthopedic surgery, Cardiology, General Practice, and Radiology. I was inspired by the teamwork of the nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals. I recognized that frameworks are useful for structuring clinical tasks to make it more logical and easier, like SPIKES and SOCRATES. I was able to realize that Surgery is a difficult specialty with long working hours, and high patient turnover, and requires you to have well-developed skills such as dexterity, discipline, and patience. The ability of a doctor to communicate information with other doctors, members of the clinical team, patients, and their relatives is crucial. While relevant to all specialties of medicine, communication as a skill is essential for a doctor, where discussions with patients and relatives can be especially challenging. When I tutored children of all ages, I developed strong relationships among all of them, and my beach volunteering experience nurtured my passion to help others and the community.
TEAMUN and KESMUN, through this experience I developed confidence and had opportunities to research and to exhibit my teamwork and leadership skills. I researched the topic and made a presentation, Uterine transplantation about the future aspects, and dealt with a wide range of topics, and this assisted me with better understanding. My goal to work as a doctor, to increase accessibility to more people, in such an ever-evolving nature which is changing very quickly. I believe that my empathy, dedication, and curiosity towards this field. Researching is going to be a part of life, it was evident that there could be more clinical trials to understand what the future of medicine holds for us. I have the ability to study independently and efficiently my time usage.

Through virtual experiences and volunteering, I have developed a passion for problem-solving and teamwork, as well as essential skills like communication and leadership.
