Abortion is the ending of pregnancy by the removal of an embryo before it is born or before it survives outside a woman’s uterus. An abortion that occurs without an intervention is known as a miscarriage or spontaneous abortion. When abortion is done properly it is the safest procedure, but when abortion is unsafe is the major cause of maternal death. Modern abortion technics use medication or surgery for abortion. The World Health Organization recommends safe and legal abortions be available to all women. In the 1950s abortion was illegal in India under the act of section 312 of the Indian Panel Code and it was also illegal in the rest of the world. It was in the 1960s when abortion became legal in 15 countries, that deliberation on a legal framework for induced abortion in India was initiated. the bill was accepted in the parliament in 1970. the bill was passed in August 1971 as the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act. Positive sides of the abortion

So, let us now concentrate on the positive sides of abortion. First of all, everybody has a fundamental right to do anything with its own body. During the abortion, the women’s side is considered or given more importance than the husband's or the male's because it is the woman who will be bearing the child for 9 months and not the man's. So a woman can decide whether or not she wants to bear the child in her womb, if the woman is unhappy or uncomfortable with the pregnancy then she can abort the child within the time limit of 22 weeks of pregnancy. Abortion is very crucial of a woman’s independence to decide whether she wants to have a child or not because for an independent woman pregnancy can be a major drawback in her life because for an independent her job, her career is her main priority. India is a country where women are not given as much importance as a man is given. So women having a job in such a country means a lot to the women. If the women are pregnant during the time when she is at the peak of the career her pregnancy can be a major drawback for her career because if the women are pregnant she has to take leave for almost a year which will hamper her career very much. Some women who do not do abortions may also lose their job. Some scientists also claim that personhood starts when a fetus is able to live outside the mother’s womb, so it is not illegal to abort a fetus inside a womb. Some scientists even say that fetuses cannot feel pain when abortion is done it is safe for the mother as well as the fetus. Modern abortion in the world does not cause infertility or long-lasting health problems.

Negative sides of the abortion

So now we have looked up onto the positive side of abortion on the above. Now we should talk about the negative side of abortion. Abortion is considered as a murder of an innocent creature, as a fetus also has life. Some people believe that life begins in the womb of a woman, so the unborn child is a human who has the right to live. As the unborn child is considered as a human so it is considered as violation of human rights by some people. Many scientists believe that the fetus does not feel any pain while others believe that fetuses feel suffering during the time of abortion. Some people say that a child is god’s gift and should not abort A child as it contradicts god’s commandments.

It is also said that in some cases abortion can cause psychological problems as it makes the mother think whether she has done the right thing or not. Abortion may also cause emotional turmoil in the woman’s mind. Abortion may reduce the number of children available for adoption, as abortion is not done for the child's live and if it is unwanted then it can be given to adoption and there will be an option for a person to adopt a child. In some cases, it may lead to abnormalities in the women’s embryo. abortion is not among the contraceptive methods as contraceptives are taken before having intercourse, and also women should understand their responsibilities that come with pregnancy. Abortion also destroys the social contribution of an unborn child. Abortion may cause future health problems of a woman such as infertility, social anxiety, and much more.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I would like to say that abortion is good for who want to avoid pregnancy and live freely in her life and also, it is a woman’s right to do anything with her body as she wants. For some it is just an unwanted pregnancy but for some their jobs and career are at stake, because of pregnancy some might even lose their job. Some scientists say that the fetus does not feel any pain during abortion so it is safe for both the mother as well as the fetus. It is very safe to have an abortion.
