Myanmar (Burma)
Though Myanmar can end up costing you a bit more than its neighbours, it is still one of the cheapest countries to travel to in Southeast Asia. On average, you are likely to spend around $35 in Myanmar if you want to enjoy a nice vacation. But, please keep in mind and this cost is subjective It depends on food, travel and accommodation. The only extra expense which you will encounter is on buses which are around $10-15. If you are travelling in a group, it will cost lesser overall. But if you are a solo traveller, your main expense is likely to be an accommodation which will be more than $25 per day. Laos
Laos is not as popular a tourist destination as the other countries around it. This is the only country in that region which doesn’t have any beaches so its neighbouring countries are more preferred by the tourists. This is exactly the reason why you should visit Laos at least once. You won’t see a crowd of travellers. You can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and explore the country at your own pace. The culture stands mostly unperturbed so you would be amazed by it for sure. If you want to visit an area with lush green lands, your next trip should definitely be to North Laos. North Laos has dense rainforests and you can even interact with the tribal groups. Luan Prabang which was the ancient capital of this place boasts of having the best of both worlds. On one hand, you will see majestic colonial structures and on the other, you can attain inner peace by visiting the humble Buddhist monasteries. Laos has no dearth of calm places at which you can soothe your nerves. Take Vientiane for instance. You can also visit the national monument at this destination. River Mekong is a marvel in itself. There are over 4000 islands and no matter which one you choose you will surely make memories for a lifetime. If you decide to visit South Laos, you can roam around the vast coffee plantations or take a detour to the majestic waterfall at Bolaven Plateau. Believe me, when I visited Laos with my friends we just spent around $20 per person. The food cost just around $7, the cost of the transport was around $6 and double rooms cost around $8. Yes, that’s just 4$ per person for a room. If you are on a tight budget and still want to have incredible fun, head straight to Laos.
Chile
Are you shocked after reading the name of this place on this list? Even I had heard a lot of rumours about how Chile is one of the most expensive destinations to travel to until I decided to try it out or myself. I won’t fool you by telling you that it is one of the cheapest countries to travel to in Latin America, but it isn’t exorbitantly expensive either. You can rent a room easily for around $10 per night. The cheapest option would definitely be to buy food from the local supermarkets and cook on your own but you can also enjoy empanadas. They are pretty cheap but can be awful at times. You need to be careful with them.
One unique idea that you can employ is travelling by long distance or overnight buses to avoid staying at dorm rooms. Transportation can be managed in around 30$ unless you are travelling to the Easter islands. This particular location is pretty expensive. The cost of the food is on the higher side. However, if you plan to participate in the adventurous activities on the mainland, you might find it difficult to manage in 30$. I would suggest you go hiking on your own and explore the glorious landscape. Though I have tried my best to make this article as informative as I possibly can, errors regarding the pricing may creep in. The prices can also differ in future. Do have a look at the current scenario in your preferred destination before booking your tickets.
