Have you ever heard people ask, “Do you have an artistic personality?” Let’s focus on these two words, ‘artistic’ and ‘personality’. We often combine art and psychology together in day to day life without realising. I plan to pursue Fine Arts in the future and be a fine artist. When I go to art galleries and observe paintings, I try to analyse and understand the choice of color palette or the forms. What I am actually doing is trying to understand the artist’s perspective. Here, I am interpreting art through psychological understandings. Studies How I can use this The study focuses on the Japanese history of fine arts psychology. There was a research conducted by Kiyoshi Miyajima on children’s art. Until the 1910’s children copied works from pictures of other artworks, an education technique called “Ringa”. However, an art teacher named Kanae Yamamoto expressed disapproval towards this method of art education and thenceforth came up with a social movement called the “Free Drawing Movement”. This social act focused on bringing a more opinionated, expressional and creative portrayal of art. Freud claimed that children’s artwork should be used as a medium to analyse their psychological problems or understand any suppressed emotions. The study was further considered by artists and novelists. There were multiple studies conducted on writing behavior. The Calligraphy Research was directed by Mantaro Kido. Analysing their artworks or their handwriting can be a strong option at that point. In my art classes, we often spend a lot of our time in analysing other famous art works. Pablo Picasso once said, “It took me years to paint like a child”, and I wonder why. I have always wanted to understand why painting like a kid is so difficult. I can apply this study in my career by analysing various arts, of famous paintings, children’s doodles and look for details of different impressions in their works.

Relevance of psychology to calligraphy. Moreover, in his second section of the book, he analyses writing behavior of different participants of varied occupation and the strength of different fonts, and came to a conclusion that every respective participant portrayed varying impressions. This study was conducted by Djikic, Oatley, Zoeterman, and Peterson. 166 people were randomly picked to read either the non-fiction version of “The Lady with the little dog” or the actual version by Chekhov. This experiment was designed in a way that all the factors were kept constant; same information, same reading difficulty and the same length. And when the participants were asked what they thought of these two versions of the book, they said that they found the nonfiction version to be just as interesting but not artistic. Then, the participants were given a Big Five Personality Trait (Extraversion, Emotional Stability, Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Agreeableness) test after and before they had read the short story and they were also asked from the scale of 1 to 10 as to what they were feeling, emotionally. And it was seen that there was a small change in the personality of people who read Chekhov’s short story. These changes were all of different traits. Each participant had shown different changes, and the amount by which they had changed was judged by the This study is indirectly related to my career. I am curious to know if people would react in a similar way like they did in this study if a book is replaced with an art piece; if physical art can have the same impact as reading artistic information in a book. I have always enjoyed creating artworks that stimulate unexpected imaginations or leave a message in my work as a cliffhanger that makes you think harder. I believe a book and an intriguing artwork can both bring a similar level of interest, curiosity and stir up emotions.

It is said that creativity works better when tested on men than women; that women have mastered the skill to imitate western fashion but not come up with something of their own. Weisberg argued that creativity comes only with hardwork and problem solving skills and not always in dreams; that the mental structure of most people doesn’t allow creativity. Also, a few studies show bipolar and manic illness in people who are creative. After applying quantitative methods, a huge range of factors to creativity were investigated. For example, genetics, age, intelligence, birth order, etc. Most studies show that creativity involves several stages: preparation (collecting valuable data and putting an effort to solve the problem but failing), incubation (not tackling the problem directly but always having it in the back of your mind), inspiration (sudden realization of the solution), and verification/elaboration (making sure that the information is useful). In art, sometimes you just don't know why you added that red shade towards the end, it’s just something that feels right, until you study those shades and understand why without that red your painting would look incomplete. Similarly, one would never know why they are not able to be creative until you know how you get creative ideas in the first place. The stages to developing creative ideas is what I could apply in my career in art. Psychologists give attention to the relationship between personality and aesthetic. Many suggest that Openness to Experience that leads to artistic personality is the key to aesthetic experiences. They believe that it is fair to cover nature related variable in the research on aesthetic experience because humans have evolved in nature, therefore, humans have created inborn This study shows the natural appreciation that humans have towards art. I can apply this study in my future career in art in order to understand the human behaviour and their keen attraction towards nature. Now I know that there is a wide range of audience that has a natural liking towards nature themed paintings/landscapes more than portraits.

Need to associate with living things. The biophilia hypothesis helps in explaining the positive impact of connecting yourself to nature in everyday life, along with the negative effects of detaching yourself from nature.
