Friedman’s work was very inspiring to people in the world who didn’t settle for less, people who believed that in order to succeed in your career you have to grow and be a necessity to the company not just an employee. He believed globalization systems were excelling because of the web which means, the internet is becoming more world wide and you can do most things yourself now so in order to succeed and be successful you along with your craft has to grow.

I’ve read a few of Thomas L. Friedman’s work but the one that stood out a little more than the others was his 2013 article which was titled “Need a job? invent it”. This was important to me because he made very valid points one of them being, “it either requires more skill or it can be done by more people around the world”. If it requires more skill then you have to learn new things and have traits no one else have or traits you are better at than others because your spot can be taken. Now if you are the creator you still have to make sure your company is hard to duplicate because there is always another person who can do exactly what you do but better.

Reading Friedman's work has made me more serious about the fact that you can’t just cruise through life accomplishing nothing because there is so much in the world that you can be apart of so you should bring your ideas to someone's company, there is always help needed somewhere so why not help yourself and help someone else. I agree with his assertions on outsourcing and being untouchable, as i've said previously you are only a necessity if you are untouchable, if the things you do others can’t do and if they can then you are outsourced. There's an organization called the “Temp service” and this is basically a company that gives people jobs for 90 days and then they fire you and find other people. This reminds me of his message because yes it's a temp service and you only have a job for 90 days but it works just like seasonal jobs, you are hired for the season and at the end the company either keeps you because you are a necessity to them or they fire you because you didnt make an impact on them for you to stay. Same goes for the temp service if you do great they'll keep you more than 90 days but if you didnt make an impact in those 90 days you will go like the rest.

I want to be a nurse preferably a pediatric nurse, I've always thought I wanted to be that because I work really great with kids so I feel aiding in sick kids would be good for me, not only sick kids but kids in general who need me, kids who just want a cool doctor that not only makes sure they feel better but gives them lollipops after. I've started to rethink that because yes im needed because I'm a nurse and we need nurses all over the world but, I can easily be replaced by a better nurse. I’m doubting myself because I have yet to think about what will make me stand out and be different from the other nurses, what can I bring to the table that will make me a better nurse? what can I do different from the others to insure my position is stable? What skills do I have working with kids that the other nurses don't ? I said I've started to rethink my decision because of the bad possibilities, but reading the untouchables have me want to be a pediatric nurse even more because I know what makes me different, I know what makes me a better nurse than them and that's simply because I know I want to be untouchable so I will do whatever it takes to be untouchable because this is my craft.
