Personal Goal Analysis and Character Traits Consideration
My goal is to earn my Bachelor's degree in Radiography in 3 years. In this paper I will analyse how I can achieve it and also I will reflect on my strengths and weaknesses. To achieve my three years of learning, firstly, I will create a plan for the first year of university to reach my goals and follow through with them. By the end of year one, I want to achieve a physics score of between 60-70%, an Anatomy of 70-80%, and confidence from clinical placement. Consequently, I have had to study 2-4 hours per day, 5-6 days per week since the start of the course.
To start with strenght, I am well organised and able to prioritise workloads given to me, which is a great opportunity to progress and succeed because the stress of being a full-time student and parent can cause distractions in my life, but, good organisational skills can help me to cope, make my goal less overwhelming and increases my efficiency in different aspects of my life, for instance, it is best to set a schedule for coursework or to study new medical terms and be on time for clinical placement. And also, priority, which is what needs to get done for the day, helps with my workflow and keeps me heading in the right direction. I have also good numeracy skills, having achieved a B in GCSE Mathematics which will be very helpful to accomplish my Physics and clinical placement goal by understanding the relationships between numbers, measurement, and data analysis during patients' radiation exposures. Usually, to avoid rushing my work and to finish on time, I can take each section one step at a time, starting early and as soon as the tasks have been given This will avoid incompletion of the assignment, tasks, and exams because I think I have time. As an emerging student of a radiographer, I like to listen to what others say and effectively communicate with my colleagues to make well-informed decisions when in the clinical setting and during teamwork at x-ray practical sessions at university. If I can think ahead and write what I want to do in the long-term, I can refer back to this when I feel powerless so it's like a reminder of what I need to do to get where I want to be which will help me to achieve my strategy and I can also use the feedback from radiographer during clinical placement and my teachers as an opportunity to do better in the future.
One of my weaknesses is that I spend most of my time on the phone talking with friends, family and visiting them as well. And I have strong wishes to make others happy, which is impossible, like chasing after the wind and it sabotages my future. Besides, I am too independent which, means I don't feel needy or try to depend on others. Additionally, I am obsessed with being tidy and clean. It gives me a sense of mastery and control over my environment. However, If the house is messy or cluttered, I will be stressed and miserable. So, as a student of radiography to increase my productivity towards all my goals, I have to avoid all the distractions and focus on my studying and assignments instead. I also have to learn how to manage my social life, train myself to be normal, accept any situation, and be flexible.
Overall, I am committed to using all the opportunities, I get to attend for clinical placement in hospitals to practice with myself as an emerging student radiographer and succeed in my future role as a professional, guided by experienced radiographers. So, I will avoid all the interruptions from my way which allow me to concentration on what I have to do towards my goal.
