Muslims were responsible for making considerable contributions to several different fields, while also bringing light to knowledge that would’ve otherwise been lost. They saw this is one of their duties of being a follower of Islam. They believed that people should truly benefit from all that the world has to offer, while maintaining boundaries and not doing anything against religious laws. Since they strongly believed in equality and oneness, they crossed borders trying to unite people, and even changed the way women were treated in these communities. Despite Islam being one of the biggest civilizations at that time and contributing immensely to several fields including art and science, many studies have spoken about how all of Islam’s achievements are borrowed from the West. They place more emphasis on the Greek and Roman era and the beginning of Christianity, and do not pay much attention to the Islamic era.

Islam has a huge emphasis on learning. Europe was, at a point, going through a dark time and the impact of Islam was increasing exponentially across the world therefore the Arabic language was used throughout. The Qur’an is a major source of rich information and it explains the differences between and the rest of the creation due to the ability of human beings to reason. The Qur’an also places emphasis the essence of classical Arabic during Europe’s middle ages when Arabic was such an important language, it was even used in European Universities. Among the Muslim community one quality that was a main focus was the ability to read and learn. Muslim scholars followed that because they believed gaining knowledge and being educated would improve quality of life on earth and even after. The initial Muslim community strongly believed that humans can help change the world and make it better, which is how they led their life. Due to this belief, the Qur’an gave importance to people living and working in peace and harmony, and even considered human beings as a miracle and someone who has great capabilities. The first community was established when Prophet Muhammad moved to Medina, and established a whole community there. He was able to conquer Mecca after many battles and considered it as the center of Islam. The mosque there had become an important piece of Islam, and was considered the core of the Muslim community, education and charity. He also made several developments to how women were to be treated, and gave them their own rights such as right to divorce, property, money, child support and many more. Islamic law was initially founded by four Islamic scholars, who refined the laws and decided which ones were authentic, which then became the basis of the current Islamic laws.

Within a short span of time after the Muslim community was created, Islam had spread far and wide in several directions, and were welcomed by many. Different communities welcomed them very warmly due to the troubles they had faced in the past with the other empires. Muslims were also told to be kind and peaceful to people who were from different countries. Contrary to what people say, Islam was not spread through violence and wars, in fact, they used to set up their own tents outside cities so that they do not interfere or cause any trouble. They were a minority religion in many countries like Turkey, Iran, Spain and Egypt. Even in Indonesia, which has the biggest Muslim population, became so through Sufis and merchants and without any wars. Muslims had treated Jews very kindly after they had fled the Christians, and even made them a part of the community. They were allowed to be a part of the government and many institutions, and were also allowed to advance their religious practices and philosophy.
