A Visionary Perspective: How I See 100 Years Into the Future
100 years into the future, the earth has been completely destroyed. People are living on Mars, Elon Musk is now the King of the people. It was only fair for him to become the leader for without his Red Pod- the rocket which bought the humans to safety, Humans would have died being trapped in a big ball of carbon dioxide that earth had now turned into. Life on Mars was very different. There was no agriculture as the red soil was not cultivable and food was ready made from Musk’s Food factory and the only means of livelihood was to work in the factories. The place inhabited by the humans was covered in a glass dome which provided oxygen and also shielded them from the extreme climate. Houses built by The Musk Foundation, was made of wood and a monthly rent had to paid to the foundation. There were no cars and cycle was the only means of transportation. The humans had sure learnt their lesson and their settlement on the red planet was not very vast so cycling was not strenuous.
The Humans who came to mars were mostly scientist, educationists, doctors, engineers and other successful, rich and elite people and their families as only they could afford to pay Rs35 crore per head to get onto the pod. Dr. Gates was one such distinguished agricultural scientist who had discovered the presence of Vitamin C in food and its importance and had won the Noble price for the same. He was now the chief operational officer the Musk Food Factory and was in charge of maintaining the machinery and ensuring its smooth running. Dr. Sheldon, Dr. Leonard, Dr. Howard were some of the brightest minds on Earth who were now working as technicians at the Factory. Every evening after the day’s work, the four of them would meet at the park which was similar to ones on earth but the only difference was that the plants were all artificial.6pm after the day’s shift was over, it was their jolly time during which they would mostly talk about their time on earth and how much they missed it. During one such meeting, when talking about some of the greatest inventions on Earth, Dr. Sheldon, seemed clueless at the mention of the Hadron Collider, the largest particle accelerator which was invented by him. Dr. Gates was amused, shocked and found it unusual that someone could forget his own invention. Twisting and turning on his bed that night, Gates was very disturbed by the happenings of the evening. He woke up earlier than usual the next morning, got ready and was at the dining table by 7am. It was an hour earlier than his normal breakfast time, he was aimlessly reading the label of his cereal box when something caught his attention. He noticed that “Gingo cokak” was one of the main ingredients.
On earth, a small amount of Gingo cokak was used as a taste maker but large amounts of it would slowly eat up the memory cells and hinder ones’ thinking capability. Dr. Gates who was well aware of its uses and side effects wondered why it was being used in such large amounts. He then scanned through all the food products only to find that the ingredient Gingo Cokak was present in all the food items and crossed the safety mark. With that thought, he left for work. Throughout the journey to the factory, he could not think about anything but Gingo cokak. Far away he spotted two men fully clad in plastics suits, wearing a helmet, each carrying two big gunny bags walking towards the west. Gates decided to follow them without their knowledge. The two men entered a secluded street which had only two buildings. One of them was a small wooden house, with a door so small that one had to bend to almost half his height to enter. It had one opaque window with a small opening on top for ventilation. Gates found a small stool in the corner of the street. He stood on the stool, flexed his legs to stand on his toes which allowed him to peep through the small opening on the window. He was surprised to see pots of plants, vegetables and bonsai fruit trees being grown. The soil was red. Not earth red. But, a kind a deep, blood red. It was Mars soil. The gunny bags had soil in them. He then heard someone walking downstairs, he was shocked to see Elon Musk there. There was news going around that Musk, because of his auto immune deficiency, didn’t have the food prepared at the factory but had some kind of special food. This was that special food. Normal, nutritious human food which was very much cultivable on the red soil. Then suddenly realization dawned on him, this was all Musk’s plan.
Accusations against Tespa, Musk’s car company on earth was always accused to emitting carbon dioxide way more than the safety limit but was brushed aside as defaming methods by its competitors. But, it was true. The increase carbon dioxide levels, the red pod were all part of the huge plan. Gingo Cokak was used to decrease others intelligence so that Musk remains the smartest man and forever their leader. Dr. Gates rushed to reveal the truth to his fellow humans. While hurriedly getting off the stool, he tripped and fell. On hearing a noise outside, Elon Musk and the two men came out to look where the noise came from. “Dr. Gates!” Mr. Musk exclaimed. “What are you doing here?” A little tipsy after the fall, Dr. Gates still managed to speak. “I know all about you and your lies.” “What lies, Dr. Gates” “You very well know what I am talking about, Musk. Stop pretending. The mask has fallen. I am immediately going to tell this to everyone now.” Elon Musk was as cool as a melon. No sign of worry, anger or anxiety on his face. “But look at you Dr. Gates, your head is bleeding from the fall. Let me give you first aid and then you can go. And before Dr. Gates could say anything, the two men lifted Dr. Gates off the ground and took him inside.
Few weeks later “Wish Dr. Gates was here!” Leonard exclaimed “Jolly time is not so jolly anymore without him.” “It was so sudden. He seemed perfectly healthy. Still can’t believe he’s no more.” “If I were on earth I sure would have found a cure for Brain hemorrhage, Sheldon said with a mouth full of cereal.”
