The phrase, stand up for what is right, even if you’re standing alone, means that you should do the right thing, even if no one else agrees with you Hashmi (2014). If you are given the opportunity to do what right for then go, no one’s going to stop you but only yourself. I prefer to be true to myself, even at times where nobody has my back, rather than to be false, and to incur my own revulsion. We should tell our children to start telling question on what their beliefs is because not all they believe in are true Ross (2018). This is a great mindset to give to our children because it gives them a moment to analyze and give the right action. At least twenty-two percent of whistle-blowers lose their jobs as a result of possessing the fortitude to report unethical or illegal activity Kennemer (2015). Even though people can be persuaded easily by the words coming out of a person there will be a time that those lies and deceptions will come out and dispel from people’s mind by someone who is concerned that it can badly affect the society.

One of the most prominent African-American civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr, said, “A man who won’t die for something is not fit to live.” There is a situation that people choose to be silenced in an attempt to satisfy both parties. This results in the loss of people’s respect for the person leading them. Taking action to stand up for what you think is the right thing is considered by many to be one of the values of being a leader. It is rare to find someone with a good judgment, someone who is willing to stand alone to do what is right, regardless of what others do Sena (2011). True, not a lot of people have the courage to stand up and do what is right because people are scared to be alone.

According to Lubecki (2017), “I am holding myself accountable to develop a position on this matter, and I will relay it to others in a week.” This show that you stand firm on you stand, and it gives people a sense of trust that you made the right choice. If we tend to price true beliefs in and of itself, we will leave out a huge space of mental states that have no truth values. But this is false because we can value different things intrinsically at the same time Brill (2012). Believing just thought and ideas placed into your mind without knowing if it is true not, it is like a hollow shell with to true meaning into it. Experiments over the years have proved again and again that once we form an opinion, it’s difficult for us to change, even after learning that the information we relied on was false Zetlin (2017). This is the cause of confirmation bias, people tend to lean forward to the side where they are right and refusing to acknowledge when there are times they got it wrong. “Don’t be a watcher.” “Stand up for yourself and others.” “Make an amendment.” As students, we hear these things all the time, therefore typically that they now not have meaning Ignant (2017).

Hearing this statement over and over it slowly loses its meaning and impact towards the receiver because it’s just thrown around when it gets a chance to add to a person’s words. People should think first on the situation on hand before taking action and make a grave mistake, always thinking back to the time you made a decision and thinking what if you approach the situation right or wrong. Everyone should be supporting each other and not leaving them on their own, they just need to be guided to the right path. A good and kind person will always do things right even in time he/she doesn’t benefit them or being ridiculed because he/she doesn’t have the same way of thinking of the person criticizing him/her.
