World War Z Video Game: The Classes and Their Strengths
Table of contents
Like the movie, the World War Z game features zombies everywhere in a post-apocalyptic world setting. But unlike other zombie games, this one includes different classes with each having their own unique skills to help the team.World War Z is a game developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive. It is set to be released on April 16, 2019, to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, and Windows computers. Up to four players can play the game cooperatively.
The Classes in World War Z
Typically, the playable characters in zombie games are individuals who know how to use firearms and explosives. They can eliminate zombie and other monsters in the game using available in-game weapons until the end of the main story. Sadly, these characters are generic if compared to each other and can only be defined based on the expertise of the player.Saber Interactive seems to have found an upside in their new third-person shooter by including classes and skills in World War Z. Based on the reports at MP1ST, the game has a total of six classes and more than two dozens of skills. Each class has its own strengths and weaknesses, and every skill is obtained by leveling up.
The Gunslinger Class
The Gunslinger is a class who prefers to shoot, instead of asking questions. Its skills are tailored to boost weapon damage and ammunition. A gunslinger's first skill is called Gimme A Reason that provides a frag grenade and a compact submachine gun as the starting kit. When they reach level 3, their frag grenades will receive upgrades on damage and impact.Once they get to level 5, their reloading gets enhancements, including unequipped weapons that reload automatically after 10 seconds and reload speed of 25 percent across all weapons. At level 14, gunslingers receive the Gun Fanatic wherein exhausting their primary and secondary weapons automatically reloads the primary weapon. While at level 23, the Free Refill skill restores one percent of the primary weapon's ammo for every kill using that weapon. At level 30, the max level, gunslingers and their Warface skill can kill 25 zombies in quick succession that provides 50 percent firearm damage boost to the team. This boost lasts for 20 seconds.
The Hellraiser Class
If gunslingers are more into firearms, hellraisers are fanatics of explosives to blow up groups of enemies. This makes them effective crowd controllers. As a starter, all hellraisers will receive the Demoman skill that provides a C4, a shotgun, and a Hailstorm MGL. Leveling up to level 2 gives Throwing Arm to increase the throwing range of C4 by 25 percent and Here Kitty to make C4 attractive to zombies.By level 8, their explosives are 100 percent more effective against zombies. While at level 20, the Hollywood skill reduces the fire damage of explosives to hellraisers and their teammates. The last two skills substantially improve the damage output of hellraisers. At level 29, every kill of special zombie increases their firearm damage by 50 percent for 10 seconds. At level 30, their C4, Claymore Landmines, and MGL can kill 25 percent more targets.
The Medic Class
Unlike the first two, this class focuses on keeping the team together through medical talents. They can use their Stim Pistol and Medkit to heal allies. The first five levels provide the necessary upgrades to the healing abilities of medics. Doctor In The House increases healing by 10 percent, Triage allows quick application of Medkit by 50 percent, Sugar Coated that boosts their health for a time after healing an ally, Patch Up that restores 30 percent of health of their teammate after they got revived, and Paramedic to speed up revive ability by 50 percent. At level 15, Good Karma causes 50 percent of Medkit's effects to be applied to the medic upon healing an ally. While at Doctor's Bag increases healing of every Medkit used by medics and teammates by 10 percent.
The Fixer Class
This class is the most versatile available since Fixers can have supplies, revive allies, and use weapons and explosives. Their presence also improves the ammo capacity of their teammates.Skills like KickBack and Armory influence the team's Supply Bag, while Night Owl and Side Effects make their Masking Grenades more effective. Once they reach level 9, they can access the Cloakroom to revive a fallen ally while under the masking effect. At level 15, Fixers can refill their equipment by one charge with 25 percent chance after killing 15 zombies in quick succession. At level 16, they can restore one equipment charge with 25 percent chance after eliminating a special zombie. One of the biggest group buffs they have is when they reach level 30. The skill Corporate Power Nap reloads every unequipped weapon of Fixers and their allies for every 10 seconds.
The Slasher Class
For those who want to battle in a classic way, the slasher offers the potency and elegance of their trusty blade. Their melee strikes are stronger compared to any other classes in the game.At level 2, All Elbows reduces the movement speed penalty by 100 percent when zombies get close to them. At level 3, a slasher's Rooted skill requires 12 zombies to pin them down. When they reach level 15, their rapid succession kills of 10 zombies provide a masking effect. While at level 16, this same rapid succession kills will immediately load their primary weapon.Upon reaching level 30, the Blade Master makes melee strikes damage one more target.
The Exterminator Class
This is similar to the hellraiser class except exterminators deal with Molotov cocktails to burn zombies. Their main specialty is fire damage and fire resistance. The first two levels of this class improve the fire damage and fire burning duration of Molotov cocktails by 50 percent. When they reach level 5 and 6, the movement penalty from zombies closing in decreases by 100 percent and it takes 12 zombies to pin them down.At level 24, their maximum Molotov capacity becomes three while the capacity for Claymore explosives becomes four. At level 26, they have a 15 percent chance to use either Molotov or Claymore without using an equipment charge. At max level, exterminators can deal 25 percent more firearm damage when there are more than 30 zombies in an area.
