Ways to Reduce the Crime Rate in Chicago

Purpose and statement of problem

Chicago violent crimes is almost at 30-year low but even though its going down the rate of violence is still shocking to people. 433 people were murdered in Chicago in 2011. This rate was double-double-triple to cities such as New York and Los Angelas. Chicago youth is the ones that are causing these problems. 2010 was a hected year 1,109 were shot, and 216 of them did not make it.

Between 10-25 years of age thats were most of the killings happens to. Although there is a lot of violence that involve shootings from gangs controlling the Chicago area and killings there has to be a way for the violence to be fixed or stopped.

What kind of solutions can help reduce crimes in Chicago?

Background/Rationale Surviving the streets in Chicago is difficult to overcome especially when your gang banging. Gang banging is not a joke its a brotherhood that goes along way. You should never play in the streets if your not fully in to it. Chicago is one of the most dangerous cities to live in but its also a beautiful city to live in if you pick the right locations to live. Being a famous rapper or popular street rapper you automatically make yourself an target due to the rise of fame and attention being given to them. Herbo has reiterated he has done things for people that wasn’t really with him, so the people that stayed down with him he brought them up with him. This is why gang banging is a brotherhood. You stay solid you get rewarded for the consequences.

A couple of Herb homies have done time for the FAM aka the gang(NLMB) and he has paid for bonds, lawyers, etc to make them feel like they have a chance to get out of their situations. Chicago’s effort to stop the violence thats going on is not working due to the approach we take to end it. The mayor Rahm Emanuel and Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle partnered p and made an agency in effort to stop the violence in the Chicago region. The agency is on the right path with hundreds involved from both the government and by communities. Chicago youth is one of the wildest youths in the world, most of them are in gangs and in order to put a end or try to control the violence we have to attack it different. While we want the fastest route to ending the death rate we have to build a long term strategy that will be established for years down the line. Limitations/Scope I believe the this topic will have a ton of research I can use cause while writing on this topic. Also its not just one specific plan you have to go by in order to stop crimes in Chicago but their are multiple angles that can be attacked to come up with more opportunities to solve the problems Chicago is dealing with. This topic has a ton of information that can get me off track from what the main focus is and whats the best plan to fixing violence in Chicago.

Methods

The methods I plan on using are the one summer Chicago which is a summer program for the youth. Chicago don’t have a-lot of after school programs and since school is over in the summer a lot of killings are done. This would help a-lot of problems with the youth now having something to do.
Also cognitive behavioral therapy which is a social emotional learning center that helps you control your emotions and become a man. This helps you control your mind and become a smarter individual. Safe passage is another method that helps students who are afraid of the violence around them by having community watchers. Audience and Persona The audience of this research paper will be the people that were in gangs or have done violent things in Chicago and has made it out. Making it out of Chicago is hard especially when your in a gang. when you do make it out, many especially becoming rich want to put a end to the violence and help the youth have a better life something they didn’t have growing up.

Outcomes

The outcomes I hope to see are more programs built for the youth especially around the cruel areas in Chicago and be able to see who actually helped to try to slow down the killings in Chicago. I also want to know that the people that live in Chicago gang areas are more save or feel more safe then what they previously been though
