Story Of The Controversial Case Of Oj Simpson
There are a number of subjects that divide opinions among Americans – guns, healthcare, and more. One other subject on that list is Orenthal James Simpson, more commonly known as O.J Simpson. He has gone from being one of the most adored personalities in America to becoming one of her most loathed, all within the space of half a century, for actions that have also seen O.J Simpson spend time in prison.
For a man whose name has been mentioned in everything from movies to comedy shows and politics, it goes without saying that people want to know where he is and what he is up to, because that’s just what happens when you are famous. In this article, we answer everything you need to know, starting from his freedom.
Is O. J. Simpson Released From Prison
He has been a movie star, a football star, and a Family Guy Character. ‘The Juice’ has also been something else, a prisoner. For all his accomplishments in sports and the entertainment industry, he is most known for his crimes, which includes robbery, and alleged murder.
While he never served time for the latter, because he was acquitted after what has become an infamous trial, he has served time for another crime – armed robbery. O.J Simpson served a total of 12,017 days in prison, which amounted to almost nine years in prison, before he was released on the 1st of October, 2017.
The armed robbery incident which led him to prison in the first place was committed on the 13th of September 2007. Leading a group of men, O.J Simpson robbed a room at the Palace Station Hotel/Casino, carting away with his sports memorabilia at gunpoint.
O.J Simpson was eventually arrested, and his trial began on the 8th of November, 2007, and almost a year later, on the 5th of December, 2008, he was sentenced to thirty-three years in prison, with a possibility of parole after nine years. He served his time at Lovelock Correctional Center until he was released at his first parole hearing.
Where Is O.J Simpson and What Is He Doing Now
O.J Simpson’s parole hearing was national news, and so was his eventual release from prison. For fans and observers of the disgraced football icon, the question was – what is he going to do now?
Well, since he was released from prison in 2017, O.J. Simpson has lived a quiet life away from media attention. After serving prison time in Nevada, many expected The Juice to return to Florida where he has called home for a majority of his life, but he instead stayed at Las Vegas, where he continues to live to date.
Since getting released, he has had Lasik eye surgery and has had surgery to get his knees replaced. His good behavior since leaving prison has also helped him secure the permission from his parole officer to travel short distances to Louisiana where some of his relatives live and to Florida where his children, Justin and Sydney live as realtors.
At home in Las Vegas, O.J Simpsons lives with his daughter, Arnelle, and except for a minor incident where he got into a fight at a steakhouse and lounge on the Las Vegas strip, he has mostly lived outside of media attention, taking selfies with fans and attending athletic games in the area. That is, of course, before he got a Twitter account.
The infamous football star has gone from being watched and revered on the football pitch to a social media personality since he joined in June 2019. Since then, he has used his Twitter platform to comment on a variety of issues like the Democratic Party presidential debates, football, free speech, and some more. Comments such as ‘I Got a Little Getting Even to Do’ have made sure his return to the public eye now has been charged with controversy, in true O.J Simpson fashion.
Many have speculated his return to the public eye via Twitter is an attempt to secure a job in either sports or entertainment, and while many have suggested that will not happen, it remains to be seen if the former football and movie star would defy expectations and make a return to national television as a professional.
Until then, post-prison, O.J Simpson continues to live a quiet life from Las Vegas while he stirs up controversy on Twitter.
