Old Money Vs Modern New Tech In The Struggle To Eco-Friendly Future

Due to recent technological advances in alternative fuel, there’s been a disturbance between new tech and old tech both trying to hold onto their market share within the energy industry. When you ask about a technology paving the way for a better future, a future without global warming, one of the recent developments that come to mind is Tesla.

Tesla is an automotive company that specializes in manufacturing electric cars using the same technology used in solar panels to produce an alternative fuel source. Unlike most electric cars, Tesla doesn’t function on individual, large battery cells, but thousands of small, cylindrical, lithium-ion commodity cells similar to the average household battery. This type of battery is smaller and lighter than the average battery in an eclectic car due to the fact that its missing some of the safety features included in the other. Tesla’s reasoning for the lack of safety precautions are due to their designs thermal management system along with a chemical within the battery that prevents overheating and fires.

Tesla’s platform is based on creating a luxury car that’s eco-friendly and accessible to the everyday, middle-class user. The reason for some negative feedback for this products stems from the age old battle between new tech and old within the energy industry. As of 2018 this 2.2 billion dollar company will ultimately receive negative backlash from the old tech, coal and oil companies, who’s products produce the exact opposite of a greener tomorrow. Adding fuel to this fire, majority of these oil and coal companies are known to sponsor politicians and heavily involved in politics. Due to their involvement, these companies are lobbying for people to believe that global warming isn’t real and that climate change doesn’t exist in order to steer people away from being sustainable echo conscious consumers. Some of the practices used to maintain their established positions are by sponsoring politicians while in return, having these politicians spread their message that there’s no truth behind global warming, even going to the extent to release fake, or skewed test results in order to divert people’s opinions. And for Tesla, who’s main interest it “to accelerate the advent of sustainable energy” this company works against everything they’re trying to sustain.

With Tesla now expanding their manufacturing abilities outside of automotive and into a backup energy solution called, Tesla Energy, this stationary essentially battery pack with built in solar panels using similar technology used in their cars, this lithium-ion battery pack has the capabilities to provide a backup power source for housed. With its battery storage capabilities, it’s able to store enough energy through the day to allow the battery to work through the night. With innovations like these, this eco conscious company is proving to be a bigger threat to these industries than any before.
