My Intent To Study Aerospace Aspect Of Engineering
My interest for engineering stems from my passion for aircrafts. It all began with being gifted model plane kits which I had to create all by myself, sometime I was unable to solve the problem, but this only built my curiosity and forced me to understand the concepts of aircraft manufacturing. As I got older I started to ask more questions such as how do aircrafts fly? How do cars drive? These questions lead me to do research and understand the basics of engineering. I remember watching movies such as the Martian which inspired and motivated me to go in to the field of aerospace engineering. As a result, of extensive research into which degree course to study, all has pointed towards the Aerospace aspect of engineering. I am now anxious to be involved in future aircraft developments and keen to expand my knowledge in this particular field.
I have always been interested in the mechanics involved in creating machines. For example, when my PC broke down I dismantled it in an attempt to repair it and figure out a way to make it work again. Helping my father maintain and repair the family motor vehicle has also strengthened my desire to study engineering as I love the technicality involved in using my hands to repair something. I have also noticed that most of the engineering courses have slightly similar substance and structure in the beginning and only specialise later on, I find this to be quite an appealing factor.
At college I am studying BTEC engineering extended diploma which has helped lay a foundation to extend my engineering knowledge at university. This course has helped me build skills such as punctuality, planning and teamwork which I will be able to apply at university and any future jobs.In my engineering maths lessons I had to develop the skill of problem solving and I think this is a valuable skill which will be used throughout my life. This course has not only shown me the practical side of engineering but has also showed me the theory behind engineering and how mechanical objects work. Also when studying this course I was able to use CAD software such as solid works which has helped me build designing skills, I personally think that have the skill to be able to CAD software is very important in the engineering industry as it allows you to do simulations and testing which is vital for any engineering industry.
Outside the classroom I like play sports and doing extracurricular activities which help me be social and keep myself motivated and disciplined. I play sports such as football and basketball which are team sports and have allowed me to easily fit in any group and be able to communicate and work together in teams. I have played for sports teams in school and played Sunday league football for 3 years. A sport which has helped me within the classroom is karate which has taught me discipline and to be patient I have been doing since he ages of eight and since, in karate I have achieved 1st Dan black belt and I am a member of the isshinryu world karate association. My work experience, which was based at a digital printing shop called 1 Stop Print ltd, helped me gain valuable skills which are indispensable in my chosen course. Working there required me to attain a certain degree of patience and an ability to communicate with others. My role involved dealing and helping members of the community, working as part of a large number of staff, which allowed me to exercise my team working skills.
After doing some intensive research, I now know that I would like to pursue a career in this field and am now very eager to study aeronautical engineering at university level. I believe that not only do I have the desire to do the course; I also have the ambition and motivation to succeed and be the best I can be and it’s my ambition to work in the aerospace industry and to be part of that team that puts people on Mars and studying aerospace engineering at university is going to be my next big step towards that. Attending university will benefit me largely as I will be surrounded with people who have the same goal and drive my success. I am a very outgoing person
