Islam and Christianity are two of the largest religions in the world, with billions of followers combined. While there are significant difference between islam and christianity in this essay we will also analyse similarities between islam and christianity. For this paper we have interviewed several people from both religions to confirm or deny the next hypothysis: Islam and Christianity have similar views on the issue of racism. But before this let's find out what these religions, islam and christianity, have as similarities and as differences.

One of the most notable similarities is that both religions are monotheistic, which means they believe in one God. Another significant similarity between Islam and Christianity is their emphasis on prayer, fasting, and charity. Both religions require their followers to pray and offer thanks to God regularly. Muslims pray five times a day, while Christians are encouraged to pray multiple times a day. Both religions also promote fasting as a means of spiritual purification and self-discipline. In Islam, the month of Ramadan is a time for fasting and increased devotion to God, while Christians practice fasting during the season of Lent. Additionally, both religions encourage their followers to give to those in need through charitable acts. Islam and Christianity also share some of the same prophets. For instance, both religions view Abraham as a significant figure in religious history. Abraham is known as the father of monotheism and is considered a prophet in both religions. Jesus is another prophet who is revered in both Islam and Christianity. While the two religions have different views on the nature of Jesus, both agree that he was a messenger of God.

There are several differences between Islam and Christianity, despite the fact that both are Abrahamic religions with similar historical roots.

  1. Concept of God: The fundamental difference between Islam and Christianity lies in their concept of God. Muslims believe in the oneness of God (tawhid), which means that there is only one God, who is eternal and absolute. Christians, on the other hand, believe in the concept of the Trinity, which holds that God is one but exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

  2. Jesus Christ: Muslims and Christians have different beliefs about Jesus Christ. Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet sent by God, but not the son of God. In Islam, Jesus is considered one of the greatest prophets, but not divine. Christians, on the other hand, believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the savior of the world.

  3. Salvation: Islam and Christianity have different beliefs about salvation. In Islam, salvation is achieved by following the Five Pillars of Islam and leading a righteous life. Muslims believe that Allah will judge all people on the Day of Judgment based on their deeds. Christians, on the other hand, believe that salvation is achieved through faith in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice on the cross.

To continue compare and contrast Islam and Christianity essay let's investigate our hypothysis about racism. First of all, racism is the discrimination against someone because of their ethnicity and believing that a race is superior to another. Racism occurs everywhere and it has been happening for thousands of years.I t affects millions of people and is a huge global issue, for that reason this topic was chosen.

Muslims come from many different places. In Islam there is no place for racism. Allah has told us that the diversity of people is one of the signs of his majesty and it is a lesson for us, a lesson about learning humility, equality and to appreciate the differences of others. Allah has mentioned in the Quran “And among His wonders is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your tongues and colours. For in this, behold, there are messages indeed for all who are possessed of innate knowledge!”, and “Oh men! Behold, We have created you all out of a male and a female, and have made you into nations and tribes, so that you might come to know one another. Verily, the noblest of you in the sight of Allah is the one who is most deeply conscious of Him. Behold, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware”. These two ayahs clearly justify that Allah has created everyone equally and that the only difference between everyone would be their sins and their good deeds. Sadly all this proof does not stop some Muslims from discriminating against each other. During the interview, the interviewee told me about an incident that occurred in an Islamic high school. When he was enjoying lunch with his friends, he noticed that some students were mocking an Indian student because of his background, they were calling him names and the bullies seemed to enjoy it. After lunch was over the interviewee approached the Indian student and comforted him and reminded him that Allah will serve him right on the day of judgement.

Christianity’s views on racism were not surprising whatsoever because Christianity is a very similar religion to Islam. In the bible it is stated that we are all the same. It strictly states that the skin shade or whatever is on the outside should not invoke any type of racist comments that could be said. Another bible verse relating this matter talks about how we are all equals as we all originated from the same place, In Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. The Bible also talks about six theological facts: Number one is that We are all created by God, He created us intentionally with his own divine image. Number two is that we all descended from the same parents, Every single human is a descendent of Adam and Eve meaning that we are all like siblings. Number three is that every person is equally valuable to god and that all humans are worth the same, “God shows no partiality”. Number four is that every person has every right to welcome to salvation in Christ, God has loved all people including the sinners, “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. Number 5 is that all people are equally valuable in paradise, “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands”. The final theological fact is that all humans are to love each other unconditionally, “Whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets”. These six theological facts prove that god has created equally and that racism is disgusting and should not be allowed anywhere, but in a huge Christian nation like America, racism still occurs which is saddening considering how many times god has told us that we are all equal.

During and after this investigation I discovered that my hypothesis was indeed correct due to the fact that Islam and Christianity both have quotes from their perspective scriptures that speak about equality. Of course there are similarities and differences between Islam and Christianity that we have mentioned in this essay, however in both Islam and Christianity the issue of racism is denied and is definitely not allowed. Both religions clearly disagree with it and state that all humans are equal. However this does not people from discriminating against each other. It is believed that the main reason for racism is the fact that it has been going on since hundreds of years ago. It is like a virus that is passed on through generations. However not everyone is part believes in God so what God says might not be important to them whatsoever but there are still ways that racism can be stopped without the word of God. You could ask the person to leave the victim alone and tell them that they would hate to be in this situation themselves and after the incident is over try to comfort the victim. It was really frustrating to learn that racism even occurs in religious environments and not just non-religious environments.
