Why I Don't Think Adnan Syed is a Culprit in Hae Min Lee's Murder Case

Has anyone ever accused you of doing something? Anything? Maybe like Stealing or breaking something on accident. Ok well you just got accused of murdering your Korean Ex-Girlfriend. That's exactly what happened to Adnan Syed back in 1999.The follows as so. On January 13, 1999 the Ex-girlfriend or Hae Min Lee was going to pick up her little cousin from school like she did everyday but, Hae never showed up.

Hae Min, and Adnan were good kids. Both participated in clubs, Sports, And both were apparently “good looking”.Both Hae and Adnan’s parents were quite strict when it came to dating. Neither parents allowed it so relationships had to be held in the dark. Either staying up late or waking up early to talk to each other. Later this secret relationship would be used against Adnan as a motive on why he killed Hae

Carrying on, Hae’s body was found in a leakin park about a month after the crime.. It was brought to mind Hae was killed by Manual Strangulation, which was found out by an autopsy. And two weeks later Adnan was arrested for committing the crime. I listened to the serial podcast on repeat many, many times so I could properly get all the information needed to find out if Adnan Syed Commited the crime or was put in jail for something he did not do.

Now, there is barely no evidence in this case. There is only an unreliable testimony, some words from a few people and cell phone records.There no strong evidence linking Adnan to Hae’s death at all. No Dna or Surveillance. A few things have been found. The lack of physical evidence is where I would like to start. No evidence was linked to Adnan, Fingerprints, hair follicles, or even the soil from where her body was found did not match with that of Adnan’s shoes.(www.viewfromll2.com). Adnan could have very crafty, skillful and sneaky but that is unlikly becuase he got caught stealing from the Mosques by his mother, so that does not sound too correct to me.

The fact that no DNA was found is a good sign for Adnan. That means it will only be more difficult for the prosecutors to make him the murderer. The second piece of evidence would be Jay, Adnan’s friend and supposed accomplice, and his testimony which basically made the whole case possible. Jay stated that Adnan had said to him before that he wanted to “kill that b**ch.”Implying that this murder was premeditated and trying to show Adnan as someone that was capable of such a horrible crime. Jay’s story changes a lot from his first interview to his testimony at the second trial. To begin, he first says they went to Westview Mall and there Adnan tells him he is going to kill Hae. In his testimony, he says they go to Security Square Mall and on the way there Adnan says he will kill Hae.

His whole timeline is his testimony is about an hour off compared to his first interview, so how could the state go based off this timeline that is based on Jay’s testimony if he does not even seem too sure about it? He states that Adnan shows him Hae’s body in the trunk of her car at the ‘strip’ off Edmondson Avenue. He then proceeds to change the story to meeting each other at Best Buy, after Adnan calls him from a payphone in the parking lot which, does not exist, and he shows Hae’s body to Jay in the parking lot. In his stories, events just do not happen at the same time or place, like the cops from police to Adnan occurs at McDonald’s but then it comes in while they are at Jay’s friend’s house. But it is concerning that Jay knew the approximate measures of the grave that Adnan dug by himself. The whole time the two stories contradict themselves.

There is more evidence and this case could be discussed for days. But, with these flaws that I have brought to the table I believe that Adnan was wrongfully convicted because there was not enough evidence to put adnan Adnan with. There was clearly not enough to put him away but they did not argue that point. The prosecutors did not stop fighting. Off of one boy’s forever-changing testimony and a few cell phone tower pings the state did not have enough evidence to put him behind bars..

Furthermore, because Adnan could not have been connected directed to Hae Min Lee’s murder, he should have been set free. I do not believe it was Jay or Adnan and the real killer was never found.
