The Way Career Goals Relates to Personal Assessment
Something I have always wanted in life is to live a happy and balanced life, apply my work ethic to everything I do in life, to enjoy life and learn from my mistakes, to be financially independent and become a role model for my children that I hope to have someday. But if I want to achieve these goals, I always have to be sure I always take my academic career seriously.
The more I progress through school the more the reality hits me that the actions I take now will have a big impact on my future. I have realized that being in college that my academic decisions will play a major part on where I can land a professional job in a career that I want. I value creativity and being able to tell amazing stories that inspire people or have a major impact on them that they have a strong emotional connection to it. I want to be able to work for one of my favorite game studios. But before I can get to any of that I need to worry about my academic career instead.
Furthermore, I look at college as a stepping stone before getting my foot in the door of the career that I want. This is why I take college so seriously. I was got decent grades in middle school and got better grades in high school. But for college? I aim to take it to the next level and earn even better grades than before. Where I'm at right now will determine the career that I am able to go into after graduation. My performance in college is going to set me apart from other people going for the same job that I want. If I don’t take college seriously then I risk never reaching my life goals that I want.
Moreover, it can be stressful to think about all this, but that’s just how it is, and that’s how I see my academics career. I know for a fact I can triumph over the obstacles that college will throw at me. I am already doing a difficult thing in college which is taking 4 classes in a semester. I know how to balance doing the things I love, the gym, going out, school work, and family, which I do 5 days a week. I believe in myself and my drive to push for the goals I want will lead me to the career that I want. I am also a better person than I was 5 years ago, a new and improved me. Thanks to the 7+ years of law enforcement experience and life lessons I have learned. I've gotten better with balancing my schedule, having a routine, not be lazy, and get things done way beforehand. I know how to be a great leader instead of someone who takes the boss position only for the title and everybody winds up hating him. Having good leadership brings people together.
Further, Learning is also one of my big strengths, I know I can catch up on things very quickly if I am taught hands-on. The more excited I am about a subject, the faster I learn how to work with it and learn. One thing I want to want to learn about and work my way into is being a creative director for one of my favorite game studios or perhaps even my own. That is why learning and being a leader are strong components I have that will help me achieve my goal. This goal is important to me because I love experiencing amazing stories in movies and immersing myself in the world and story of an amazing game. I value them so much that they have helped change my outlook on certain things on life in a positive way. I want to be able to create amazing stories, characters, and worlds for people to experience.
As a matter of fact, this goal relates to my personal assessment because in the assessment I saw several times that positions in storytelling or narratives related things were recommended to me. One obstacle that might get in my way of achieving my goal is getting my foot in the door, it may not be what I want but I'll have to try somewhere. Two solutions I can think of are to apply to places I have an interest in and keep trying. I also can network and meet with people to ask them about how they got into the industry.
Overall, I think my purpose is to tell amazing stories that help people through tough times, inspire them, or change their perspective on things in a positive way. Also, to bring people together to craft amazing characters, stories, and worlds. I want to be able to live a happy and balanced life, apply my work ethic to everything I do in life, to enjoy life and learn from my mistakes, to be financially independent, and become a role model for my children that I hope to have someday.
I want to be able to graduate college with the appropriate degree in the field for the career that I want and a career goal I want is to be able to work in one of my favorite game studios. I know Valencia College can help me achieve these goals by allowing me to analyze the classes and the degree I need to pursue that dream, I hope that one day I land the position that I want and all my strengths allow me to go above and beyond in the storytelling area. After achieving that I can be the financially stable man that I aspire to be.
