I believe that the three things needed the band to be pushed forward are dedication, communication, and, humility. The reason why I include these powerful words is that, without dedication people in the band will basically just feel like there's no use of being there and not finding the true meaning of what band means to a person. With dedication, you can get all of it, but you can also get the group of people to understand dedication towards the band and blooming something incredible. For communication, communicating can be a life changer no matter what the situation is. If we all communicate correctly we can all be on the same track and not be behind on music or marching. Not just that, but if a person in a group is needing help, however, not saying anything about it, go to the person and help him/her out. Communication can have a big impact on a person life, but if everyone communicates together no one will be left out at all. Humility. A word that seems to have gone out of fashion; too often seen as a sign of weakness or lack of confidence. But is humility an archaic value? Or is it a valuable trait that has been disregarded by a culture in which it’s “all about me”?

Humility means having a modest opinion of one’s importance or work. It means not thinking of oneself as superior to others. While in today’s world, people generally don’t like letting others define their value and contributions, I have to wonder if I am truly making a difference in the lives of people around me, should I need to tell others how important I am? This always goes through my mind no matter where I am and what I'm doing. For this to go around the band will totally change how everyone will think and if this goes on around the band people can get along more. For example, this quote from a professor from UCSF always empowers me “The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention…. A loving silence often has far more power to heal and connect than the most well-intentioned words.” These three words are something I believe in and always think of and putting these in the band will honestly push the band forward.
