The Opposition of Good and Evil in A Wrinkle in Time
A wrinkle in time is about a teenage girl, Meg Murry, trying to find her father with the help of her brother, Charles Wallace, and her friend Calvin. They go on an adventure to another galaxy called Camazotz where everyone is in sync. In addition to this, it is where her father is held in a glass box. But before they can save father, they come across a demon who hypnotized people called IT. IT has now hypnotized Charles. Due to the fact that IT has Charles, Meg and Calvin decided to leave him and save father. After they saved father, they go through the Black Thing and met Aunt Beast, who gave them a place to rest before they save Charles from IT.
After they were all rested, they went back and were able to rescue Charles. They all went back to earth safe and happy. Meg and Charles were worrying about why father never came back and if something terrible has happened to him. Meg was known the girl without a father at her school and she was made fun of. So they,Meg, Charles, and Calvin, decided to look for father, who was in a different galaxy. He was held captive by IT but luckily was not hypnotized. But the problem is, IT is too strong to defeat and IT has Charles hypnotized. In order to save Charles from IT, Meg has to use her flaw that mrs. Whatsit told her. But when she heard that, she was so upset that she had to use her flaw when she was trying to get rid of. Meg didn't know what she had that IT did not and she became more frustrated. She finally figured it out. It was love that IT didn't have so she told Charles how much she loves him. And finally Charles was free from IT.
The theme of the book is the difference between good, evil, and love. It shows that love and good can always defeat evil if you choose the right decision. For example, when Charles was being controlled by IT, Meg made the right choice and told Charles how much she loves him because she knew IT can never love since all it does it be evil. Also, the theme of the book is that you have to learn lessons in order to succeed. Like, when Mrs. Whatsit told Meg that she has to use her flaw in order to defeat IT, she had to learn how to use her flaws and accept it and defeat IT. The author is trying to tell us that loving and being good is better that being mean to others even though it can be hard, but the results are always better. I had the most sympany to Meg because she had to go through a lot of struggles. Like, missing a father and not knowing where he is, getting bullied in school, sent to the principal's office, going through the galaxys, and not getting help from Charles due to the fact that IT is controlling him. The author shows us that in the beginning, Meg was insecure, getting in trouble in school, and wasn't the smartest.
But at the end when they found father, Meg came home all grown up and responsible. The author also shows us that at first Meg was scared to face IT because she did not know how to get Charles back from IT and if she can. But, Meg toughened up and she was able to save him. What I like about this book is that it teaches us a very important lesson, love. Because I feel like love is very important to people and some people don't understand what it is or they misuse it. I also like this book because it had the right amount of pages. Since I am a slow reader, i don't like it when books are too long because it feels like the book will never end and it sometimes gets boring for me. What I dislike about the book is every time Mrs. Which talks, it's hard to follow. For example, “And wee mussttn’tt loose ourr sensses of hummorr.” it makes it harder to read. Overall, I thought the book was good and I would read it again.
