Definition of Dementia

Dementia is the medical reference made for a disorder that affects the brain that prevents us from remembering various events correctly. There are various forms of dementia which can affect any person. One of them is Parkinson's disease. There could also be vascular dementia or frontotemporal dementia. Being a disease that affects any person’s brain, it causes low levels of attention; the person also remains confused most of the time. There are various tests that can confirm whether a patient is affected or not and accordingly, the physician can clinically treat the patient. Some of the forms are curable and could be caused by some deficiencies. The person also has some issues in communicating with people around them. Now, given the memory is too weak, the person has more issues. The patient also has problems in finding out the variance in colours or any movement that may be happening. There is also a problem in judging something and reasoning with others.

Definition of Alzheimer

Alzheimer is a disease that is chronic and is not reversible. It damages the brain very fast and is a type of dementia. This disease is caused mainly due to some of the proteins that get deposited in the brain as well as nerve cells. Now, the cells get disconnected, and they die. The brain of the patient starts to shrink, and it is difficult to find out what has happened correctly. There is no cure for this disease.

The patient is confused and has a lot of problems in remembering any events. In most cases, the patient has apathy and is in a state of depression. There is lots of confusion in the mind of the patient and has problems in swallowing food as well as walking and speaking. So, what is the difference between dementia and Alzheimer? The major point is that dementia is curable mostly, but Alzheimer cannot be reversed as there is no cure currently. Dementia can also occur due to chronic drug side effect or some infection like HIV. We will now get to know what is the difference between Alzheimer and dementia.

What It Means

The person is affected by loss of memory as well as decision taking abilities. The person is affected by the shrinking of the brain and leads to loss of memory and problems in behaviour.

Why It Is Caused

It can be caused due to some drug side effects or may be caused due to stroke. It can also be caused by some infections like HIV. Some protein and fibre start to build between the brain and nerve cells due to which the nerve cells are killed. Can it be cured most forms of dementia can be cured. Currently, there is no cure available.
