The Influence of Social Inequality on Human Sexuality

Personal feelings of someone regarding their sexual thoughts as well as attraction and behaviour about other person are stated as sexuality. Finding other people attractive in terms of physically, emotionally as well as sexually is a part of sexuality for an individual. The whole aspect of sexuality is totally private and diverse from person to person. This essay revolves around lack of equality among gender has been reason of social misbalance. This essay tries to prove social inequality and its consequences in society.

The presence of unequal rewards as well as opportunity for dissimilar social statuses and positions for society is called as social inequality. Unequal social condition occurs when distribution of resources is done unevenly to the society in terms of gender, religion as well as power. In this essay, the role of sexuality in social inequality is evaluated. In addition, the impact of economic disparity on violence against women and the idea of wage gap and feminization of poverty are also included in this essay.

Sexuality perspective differs from people to people depending upon their beliefs, values and personal choice. Social inequality in terms of gap in income as well as gender difference and healthcare service influenced by sexuality in a vast manner. People’s thinking about wealth of a person imposes negative effect to the society and creates inequality to the community. As per the views of Hoebel, Jens, et al., social inequality in healthcare sector is highly influenced by unethical practice of healthcare professionals (4). Due to bad intentions of healthcare professionals as their sexuality they tend to attract on opposite sex which creates imposing inequality to the community for their service. Male doctors are engaging with sexual harassment as their sexuality concern to healthcare female subordinates which is one of the results of social inequality. In addition, doctors are duly engaged towards providing service effectively to the patient as per their sexuality concern which is also a reason for social inequality.

Apart from these, gender difference and people’s sexual desire also plays a significant part to social inequality. Generally, people attract with opposite sex and try to please them by any means which is also a reason for bringing inequality to the society. As per the views of Jackson Robert, result of sexuality as gender difference gravely varies from other types of inequality such as race or class (3). Due to this, sexual desire of people is an important influencing factor of social inequality. Male and female are hurdles together as couples with intimacy. Sexual desire as well as feelings and behaviours of female differ from males significantly due to the biological difference present between them. Due to this, social inequality comes to light in real practice as a part of people’s different sexuality concerns. In biological context, males are more active sexually as compared to females which results in male engaging to unethical sexual practices more than the females which also brings social inequality to the people in terms of their gender and service.

Economic disparity is defined as the condition of unusualness towards different earning amount by males and females. Economic disparity is one of the major reasons for increasing rate of violence against women. As per the views of Chapman, Audrey, economic inequality between male and female results for occupying inferior role in society which results in growing rate of violence against women in the society (13). Due to this, females are facing restriction towards their right of enjoying cultural, economical as well as social aspects of our community. Economic disparity in terms of wage gap between male and females also influenced the rate of violence against women. In our society people practice maintaining a difference between the wages paid to the male and female. Due to this, people believe that poor people are taken under consideration loosely at the time of providing wages. As per the views of García-Moreno, Claudia, et al., violence against women is the reason behind imposing barrier for them in order to participate in social as well as economic development equally as compared to males (1686). Difference in wages among male and female diverts community towards engaging into violence against women which is due the presence of economic disparity in terms of wage gap. The economic disparity in Canada can be a matter of concern and can be considered as one of the most critical factor that can affect the stability in the social prosperity of Canada. The income inequality can be most exclusive in major cities while, it can be equal in rest of the places in Canada. As per the research by Chartered Professional Accountants Of Canada, the major cities such as Montreal, Toronto, Calgary as well as Vancouver has been recorded as the perceiving widest gap in the wage distribution among the two distinctive genders. This rapid increase in gender inequality of income has been observed since the mid-1970s.

On the other hand, the phenomenon of women experiencing higher rates of poverty as compared to the males is stated as the feminization of poverty. Women facing the higher rate of poverty are not a consequence however the presence of economic disparity in the society is the significant reason behind it. As per the views of Mishra, Sanjay, feminization of poverty is directly associated with the female population of the world which is the result of practicing wage gap biased for the women’s (94). Economic disparity in terms of wage gap between male and female is a social cause worldwide which need to be addressed on a global level in order to bring equality to the society and provide equal chance to all human beings. Feminization of poverty is the result of surpassing females for their biological difference in terms of providing fewer wages to the female as compared to males. Due to this, feminization of poverty comes into light as the female population is facing higher rate of poverty worldwide as compared to males. Due to this, the rate of violence against women is also raising by the passing time as for their poverty level and people’s negative behaviour for them. As per the views of Hegewisch et al., restricting black women to access jobs as well as education in the olden days is a real life example of social inequality which is also the reason for contributing towards gender wage gap (36).

Due to the practice of wage gap between male and female and pushing female population towards poverty is the reason behind women’s engaging into prostitution as well as pornography filed in order to make money and bettering their life standard. Negligence faced by the society, black women are entering into the market of prostitution and pornography in order to fulfill their minimum earning so that they can live a happy life and raise their children properly. As per the views of Cao et al., prostitution practice is increasing by the passing time not only in Canada but also worldwide (1172). Prostitution is a sensitive social issue as it deals with unusual life style behaviour which is deemed by sinful, abnormal as well as stemming attempt of controlling sexual expression by the society. On the other hand, rejection of marriage by a male to a female is also one of the main reasons for women getting into prostitution. Engaging into prostitution practice by a woman influences other women in the society in a negative manner. Prostitution is a form of slavery in which women faces sexual harassment daily and live their life with various risks related to the health. As per the views of Abrol and Manpreet, prostitution practice by females imposes risk to their life in terms of forcing by others to go into remote places where they can be victimized (23).

Women going into pornography field effects on their mental health significantly in terms of considering themselves as lower caste in the society. Due to this, they are unable to participate in social gatherings as well as they avoid getting into social functions and communicate with society properly. This results in affecting their mental health to the downwards along with they dealt with serious risk concern for their health which sometimes cost them losing their lives. As per the views of Peter et al., women getting into pornography field affect negatively on them in terms of degrading their image in the society (510). Though females are not intendancy goes into prostitution as well as pornography field as because of their preferences, social in equality present in terms of wage gap and getting recognized as weaker in the society is the reason behind choosing the prostitution as their life survival game. Getting into prostitution women earn their minimum amount of livelihood by which they survive in the society and raise their children for providing them good life in the future. Prostitution and pornography practices affects women in terms of feeling awkward for visiting doctors in order to discuss their health problem which sometimes cause their life for this. As per the views of Benoit, Cecilia, et al., sex workers also look their profession as not so suitable and they do not consider telling about their profession to other people (458).

Theoretical approaches to gender pay gap suggests that every human has some percentage of human capital for their work which they must get in return if they deliver a job no matter whether they are male or female. Women all over the world contribute a huge share to the labour market globally. As per the views of Virginija Grybaite, though women labour market is significantly large worldwide, however women comparatively gets lower rate of wage as compared to men due to the inequality present in our society (86). Gender Inequality is the case of gender diversity prevailing across countries where men and women are discriminated in terms of providence of facilities and privileges in both professional and non-professional fields of work in sound terms. Mainly the women classes are neglected in high risk jobs and this abhorrence become stronger in more manners if they are semi-literate and are from poor economic backgrounds. Poverty, unemployment and social economic hardships are faced by weaker sex in terms of gender discrimination in sound manners. The problem grows more chronic when sexual harassment is done against fairer gender or weaker females in terms of gender discrimination even in most reputed public places of the world. Despite the progress of women in modern era, wide gaps between men and women can be observed in terms of economic empowerment. In most countries, men get paid more than women for similar type of works. It can cause even sever degrading condition for women in Canadian society. Women are not getting enough opportunities as male because pay scale gap between men and women is huge. Economic gaps of women can also cause lack of access proper health as well as educational facilities.

Thus, it can be concluded that sexuality plays a significant role towards social inequality in terms of suppressing women in various fields because of the biological difference present in male and female. On the other hand, economic disparity in terms of providing wage gap for men and women is the reason for increasing rate of violence against women. Lower rate of wages for women results in dealing poverty in a larger amount as compared to male. This is the major reason for feminization of poverty aspect in our society. Apart from that, women getting into prostitution and pornography field affect their mental health in terms of not engaging into social gathering and events. In addition, getting into prostitution practice imposes serious threats for their life.
