Properly Dealing with Adversity to Meet Challenges Life Throws at You with Resilience
“I never lose. I either win or learn.'' These words that Nelson Mandela said should be true for everyone. He suggests that we shouldn’t view adversity as a bad thing but instead view it as an opportunity. If we view adversity as an opportunity then we will grow and all those negative things in our life will become positive, and they will help to make you stronger. I view life as Nelson Mandela said I view it as a celebration of growth. It is important that we reflect on times of adversity so that we may gain lessons and growth out of them. When something negative happens, you may feel pain, sadness, or maybe even anger, but why linger in these feelings if all they do is contaminate the way in which we feel about everything in our life. Instead we should be thankful for adversity, for the clarity in which we have been provided.
The first step to viewing adversity as a good thing is to analyze how the situation came to be. To do this you must look back at what caused the situation and what caused you to feel the way that you did.Ask yourself questions such as: how were you feeling? What could or couldn't you control in the situation? What you don’t want to do however is over analyze. Instead you should you should analyze enough to make it a constructive life experience
The second step is to acknowledge and alter your attitude. First figure out what went wrong and after you do that, change your mindset. Whether you realize it or not mindset and attitude play a major role in our daily lives. Some examples of this are the way we interact with others, the energy we give off, and the way we see and respond to events and experiences in your daily life.
The third and final step is to reinforce. To do this you must reinforce what you have learned because if you don’t end up doing this then all of the information that you obtain will go to waste. If you reinforce yourself daily then you will get into a habit of trying to be the best version of yourself that you possibly could be.
In conclusion, by practicing the three steps here of analyzing, acknowledging and altering your attitude, and reinforcement, You will be on your way to becoming the best person that you can be. You’ll be able to see that adversity is in fact not an obstacle to ruin your life, but an opportunity that is set in place in order to teach you a lesson. A lesson that is only learned if you change your point of view from negative to positive.
