Introduction

I worked part-time as a healthcare assistant in the XYZ company which is in Preston. As a health care assistant, my major responsibilities are to help the patient at the residential care in their day-to-day activities which includes observing, monitoring, and recording the patient’s condition by checking them on an hourly basis like -checking their temperature, pulse, and respirations-, communicating with patients to provide them emotional supports, assisting them with medical duties, checking and ordering the supplies for the clients and providing the personal care which includes infection prevention and control, nutrients health, reassurance, personal hygiene, and comfort and safety of clients. The care assistant is responsible for the patient health and safety, ensuring that the patient is comfortable, and facilitating social-emotional supports. Overall, I like my job and I enjoy working as a health care assistant. I like to help elderly people and I also love to spend my time with them during work by chatting with them and listening to their stories and everything. However, less payment, delay in payment, lack of appreciation, lack of encouragement, lack of training, and lack of motivation are the few factors that I don't like in my job where I work. The company I work for is good but there are a few factors that demotivate the workers like us to work. As in today's competitive generation, it is important for organizations to keep their workers happy and motivated. In the company where I work, they have a few problems such as lack of motivation activities for the staff, lack of good communication with employees, salary, personal life, job securities, company policies, supervision, and working conditions. In the below description paragraphs I will talk further about the problems of my company that demotivate staff like me and will discuss different motivation and job satisfaction theories along with how to solve these problems.

Motivating and Demotivating Factors of Organization I Worked

The place I work is located at Preston which provides luxury care. Overall, the company offers good motivating factors to the workforce which also motivate me and the other staff to work more. However stressful times at work demotivate me to work less even they provide lots of factors that kind of encourage me to work. The company provides 30 days paid holiday to all the staff that they can use any month of the year. Also, the company provides extra pay to the employees who pick more shifts than they have contracts for however, this does not attract lots of staff. It also provides a special bonus for the new staff so they can recruit more and more staff members. They also provide the bonus at the Christmas or any other bank holidays which is also the good factor that motivates the employees, especially at Christmas the company provides the Christmas party for all the staff where I get the opportunity to let socialize with other staff who works on the different units but in the same building. Not only this the company I work for also provide carrier development opportunity example they provide training for the staff to become the senior career or clinical senior, by using the health care assistant can become the senior career after which they can to the medication too. However, beneath all these positive factors to motivate the staff, there are a few factors that demotivate the staff. The company I work for has a certain problem with the payment. Workers compare their earnings with colleagues in the same job position and with other employees within the organization, therefore relative wages are important predictors of effort. Also, sometimes they pay my salary late which causes me a problem paying my bills. No matter how hard the is it will feel better if you get appreciated for the work done. The residential home I work for has people with a high level of dementia due to which sometimes it gets really hard to deal with the residents, so it is necessary to provide the high skilled training to deal with them.

It is very essential to create job satisfaction so that employees' morale, discipline, and the performance of the organization can be increased. Satisfied employees are more reliable and likely to stick with their job. Working as a health care assistant is not an easy job the workers should have a high level of the patient as a health care worker you need to deal with elderly people with some kind of health and mental issue. Especially while working the dementia unit, it is a high risk of getting self herm and which also can depress the person mentally while dealing with people with dementia. It is not only enough to implement the motivating factor, but it is also vital to check that if the staffs are satisfied with it? are staff is really motivated by using these motivating factors? There are many reasons that organizations should concern about job satisfaction first the humanitarian perspective which means that people deserve to be treated fairly and with respect. secondly, the utilitarian perspective means that job satisfaction can lead to the positive and negative behavior of employees which can affect the functioning of the organization. Furthermore, job satisfaction can be related to the company's functioning, so it is very important to measure job satisfaction among the employees. Mostly job satisfaction can be measured through questionnaires and interviews, for the organization where I worked, it is easier to do questionnaires among the staff member to check if they are satisfied with the job or not. Engaging and satisfying employees in their job help them to feel more secure and connected to their work, also inspired them to work harder and with full dedication. According to Herzberg theories, satisfaction and dissatisfaction are not similar things, so they are not opposed to each other, and he also states that motivating variables can induce satisfaction or no satisfaction, whereas hygienic aspects can cause dissatisfaction when absent or no dissatisfaction when present, with both having magnitudes of strength.
