Have you ever thought about going to college and study what you actually like? Or having a dream you want to accomplish and make it real? For instance, you could start extracurricular activities, volunteering, AP courses, summer programs or community service. In my case, I’ve done some volunteering, extracurricular activities and community service, but I am looking forward to start an AP course.
Most people think they have to realize since 9th grade what they actually want and that’s not necessarily essential, but one advice is, be determined in what you actually want and strive for it. For example, I am still not convinced on what I would like to spend the rest of my life in, but I sure know that it could be something about traveling and languages. The word initiative is full of dreams and hopes. Taking initiative about college could sound pretty exhausting since it’s a lot of work. But, you should start thinking about leadership, and know where you want to be from here to 5 years. You can show you initiative in many different forms such as academic awards, honor rolls, work experience in summer, or even assigning yourself a challenging task you’ve always wanted and surely what I stated earlier. Crush expectations or statistics, being actually someone and not just ‘another someone’.
Also college has many opportunities, think outside the box, look for a place where you would like to start your college years or even start up research about a college you’re interested in, take advantage of what you’ve been offered, even though it could be draining and even too much work. But trust me, at the end it will pay off. In my case, I would relish to study in Barcelona, Spain; since I have family there and absolutely love their way of living. Moving away to another country because of college can be challenging because that’s when you get to be independent and start knowing what adulthood is like. So, try to break through of expectations, and be one of a kind, go out of your country for one year and become an exchange student. Participate in many school activities that way you could even get some recommendations. Remember, you can always dream but in reality a few people actually make it happen. Don’t let a person strip you out of what you want, use your time wisely and more importantly, don’t be the remainder of the crowd.
My compassion for traveling and pictures is what keeps me determined to strive and make everything possible, so take a challenge. What keeps you determined?
