Abortion Should Be Illegal: Securing Women's Reproductive Health
Abortion is a very contriversal topic in todays society, and it affects people everyday all around us. Most human beings are uninformed of the reality of abortion. Pro-Life is “the belief that human life begins at conception and the life of any human being is valued, and the killing of an preborn individual human being is imoral.” Everyone has rights which must be secured. The government should outlaw abortions because abortions deprive an American child of its rights to life, puts women’s lives at risk, and allows Americans to escape the consequences of their actions.
The slogan 'My body, my choice,' is one of the most common arguments used to defend for abortion. This statement is deceptive because the living being inside your body is not a part of your body, it's a distinct human that is dependent on the mother to grow. But what about the bodily rights of the preborn baby? A woman's rights over her body does not include the right to end the life of an innocent human being. In most circumstances women have the “choice” to not have another living body inside of them. The women affected by this had a choice to put thems elf in the situation they are in now. Right after conception brand new DNA is formed from the mother and father, which is as unique as any other person from the past or in the future making it a distinct human being with the right to life. The viability of a premature birth has gone well below what is accceptable to have an abortion. During the 3rd week the heart starts to form and beat, by the 4th week the heart beats at a steady rhythm. Almost 9 out of 10 abortions are performed during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy meaning the baby has started the development of the brain, heart, spinal cord, lungs, feet, arms etc. If a baby was born premature at 22 weeks no one has the right to destroy its life but if a baby was aborted during the same stage no one can voice anything about it. The differences and similarities tied between a newborn child and a fetus is their state of dependency, stage of development, and their size. An abortion is an escape route to hide the consequences and actions of the parents.
Since abortion was made legal in 1973 by the “Roe v Wade case,” more than 60 million preborn human beings have died from American abortionists. The subject of abortion is very alike to the topic of slavery. The slave owners used the phrase, “its my plantation, so its my prerogative” while on the other hand Pro-Choicers use the phrase “my body, my choice.” which both are flawed. The Supreme court rulings involving Dred v. Sanford, and Roe v Wade are degrading a persons life and a certain group. Abortion can also be thought of as modern human sacrifice. Children are known as a load to care for expensively and are time consuming, and abortion is thought to remove that. People sacrifice there unborn children to things such as self-desire, money, and convenience.
Another argument used for abortions is rape. Rape is an horrific act of violence, and anyone who has an unwanted pregnancy due to rape should be cared and neighbored. Since two living human beings, the child and the mother are being affected by the result of the offender, whoever committed the crime should be punished to the fullest of the law. Infants contribute nothing to their conception, and are the most innocent of all humans. If a mother cannot care for her child or doesn’t want the child, the mother has options that include giving up the child for adoption, or foster care rather than getting an abortion, or disownng the child. An abortion is an abomination because all humans have constitutional value. In the US alone, there are 1.5 million kids adopted, 400,000 kids in foster care and 150,000 kids waiting to be adopted.
There are hundreds of risks women are taking before getting an abortion. The risks to the mother include emotional, psychological and/or physical risks. Before having an abortion women take multiple risks including leading to death. The physical risks may include damage to the uterus and or bladder, heavy bleeding and infection, respiratory problems, nausea, headaches, drug reactions and death. The psychological and emotional risks include eating disorders, guilt and depression, flashbacks, suicidal thoughts, alcohol and drug abuse. The health of any human being is important
To conclude with, women face many risks that may affect there future life, and everyone has rights which must be secured. Abortions take lives and deprive infants of their right to life, puts women’s lives at risk, and allows Americans to escape the consequences of their actions. All human life, born beings or unborn beings, has value which should be respected and reserved.
