Why Are You Pursuing A Nursing Career
Nurse. A five letter word that means so much more than just taking care of the needs of a sick person. Nursing isn’t just a job, it’s a way of life. I believe that the best nurses are ones who were born to become them. A valuable nurse, male or female must be understanding, compassionate and able to empathize with patients from all walks of life. I have had the desire of becoming a nurse for as long as I can remember. I was inspired to become a nurse from a background of lifelong nurses in my family, who are persistent and dedicated to helping others. Some people have a natural instinct for wanting to give to others without personal gain, and I feel I am one of those people.
I have always had a passion for helping people since and had the urge of becoming a nurse since I was about seven years old. I come from a family full of nurses from my mother and father’s side of the family. My aunt Debbie has been my greatest inspiration to pursuing my goal into becoming a nurse. She has always conveyed and still portrays such immense commitment and compassion with each and every patient. As Maya Angelou once said, “As a nurse, we have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul, and body of our patients, their families, and ourselves. They might not remember your name, but they will never forget the way you made them feel. ” I want to be just as fulfilled with my career as she is and create a difference in people’s lives.
One thing I absolutely endure about nursing is its diversity. In what other career path could you go from saving lives in a hospital, to schools, law firms, or jails? Nursing is just about the only profession where there is a need for your skills no matter where you live. From jam-packed cities to isolated islands, the demand for nurses is always flourishing to provide quality health care. It takes an exceptional human being to be able to take on the performance of being a nurse. I am more than willing to take on the challenge of what it takes to become a nurse.
