Why Abortion Should Not Be an Ilegal Option for Women

Abortion is a common problem for society, especially women. When a couple get married, usually what they want is a descent. This happens through a process called pregnancy. Pregnancy is a physical process that happens on women that become a joyful condition for millions of those who want it in the world. Behind of this happy condition, there are myriads of people who do not want to get pregnant because of circumstances such as job demands or consider having a child is troublesome. Margaret Sanger states, “No woman can call herself free who does not control her own body.” From this statement, we know that women are not free in taking a decision during pregnancy. When they want to do an abortion, they must be sure to take this difficult decision first. In this essay, I argue that abortion should not be illegal due to the demands of good physical and health conditions and unwanted pregnancy, as well as the fact that women should have control over their own bodies.

First of all, good physical and health condition is demanded during pregnancy. According to WHO, “Every year in the world there are an estimated forty to fifty million abortions.” This condition happens because of dozens of reasons including the physical form. For example, in one case, Rossa suffers from diabetes and it forced her to have an abortion. The other cause is the shocking condition such as the weight of the expectant mother causing death to the fetus. Moreover, the other causes are the external condition that affects physical. For example, when an expectant mother got an accident, it will have an impact to the baby. Not only accidents but also when she gets pressure to her body, it will trigger fetal death to the baby. Sometimes, the expectant mother makes bad behavior in her life. For instance, drinking alcohol and smoking will have the worst influence on the fetus. When all of this happens, the only choice they have is to do an abortion. If the expectant mother does not do it, it will endanger her life.

Finally, about hundreds of people, especially women, pregnancy is an unwanted condition. For example, a woman named Layla gets sexual assault by a stranger. It made her pregnant which she did not want it. It would be better for her to have an abortion to avoid diseases, such as mental illness, against her body. The other condition is financial pressure which has impact to the married couple’s future. When a married couple wants to have a child, they need to look at financial condition. According to Guttmacher Institute, “Abortion patients generally are women who are married with unmet needs for contraception.” From this statement, we know that married couples should have enough finance. A poverty couple might have a great probability to have an abortion. They were forced to do it in order to survive especially in the most difficult circumstances.

In conclusion, due to the requirement of well physical and health situation and unwelcomed position, abortion must be legal to make women feel safe. Because of these reasons, a woman wants to do it. Not only a woman but sometimes other people like parents or big families want a woman to have an abortion. For example, a father who finds out his daughter is pregnant while he does not want it. When undesirable things can be removed, a woman will not fear of future. If many good things can be got through abortion, why do you still not accept it?
