The Use Of Laser Sights On Weapons
The first laser sights were produced in the 70’s. The active substance that was used in them was a mixture of neon and helium. It is for this reason that such devices were quite expensive and cumbersome. Semiconductors are used for the manufacture of lasers, which significantly reduced the size of devices and their price. At the moment, many people have managed to acquire these or other types of weapons. Many of them believe that it is simply necessary to equip at least one of their combat unit, especially given the fact that due to new technologies, these devices have become inexpensive and more affordable for most consumers. A lot of different models of laser sights allow you to install them on most types of weapons.
First of all, it should be said that using a laser sight is not always advisable. Primarily, even with an experienced shooter, aiming with the help of a laser sight takes more time than with a conventional or optical sight. Secondly, with good lighting, not all the surfaces are the clearly visible point of laser guidance, and in some cases, it is completely invisible. Even the newest models with increased brightness of the beam, cannot always guarantee the visibility of the point of sight.
Very often laser sights are presented as guidance systems precisely in case of insufficient illumination. Here it is necessary to note one very important thing. During conducting aimed at shooting in low light, there is a need to identify the target, which with the help of an ordinary mechanical sight is not difficult. While using a laser sight, this is very difficult. Simply put, we see the sight, so we see the target in sight. And in the case of the laser sight designator, you will shoot, either by a group of persons or in an unidentified goal.
Many people think that it is worthwhile to equip their weapons with a laser sight and all problems with the accuracy of shooting will go to the background. For accuracy to hit the target is not enough just to aim well. A very important role is played by the smooth pulling of the trigger and the displacement of the sight due to recoil during the shot. All that was said above, in no way means that laser sights are useless, and they should not be used. There are many different situations when one cannot do without them. Take, for example, the case when a gas mask is on the arrow, or you have to aim fire because of some kind of fence, or the shooter is hiding behind an armored vehicle, etc. In these and other similar situations, the absence of a laser sight means that it is impossible to pinpoint exactly where the bullet hits.
If the shooter uses a night vision sight, the best option for him will be the sights that are almost invisible to the enemy. Also, in some cases, the laser sight is used by the commanders of combat groups and units for controlling actions. In these cases, preference is given to IR lasers invisible to the naked eye.
