The Safety Regulations Placed for the Cabin Crew in the Airline
The safety of all IndiGo staff is of the greatest concern and all measures are enforced on a regular basis. Domestic aviation in India is jointly controlled by a number of government agencies and regulators, including the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and its annex, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS)— the central aviation security authority; the Directorate-General for Civil Aviation (DGCA)— accountable for regulating air transport services in India and the Airport Authority of India (AAI), which is accountable for the infrastructure of multiple airports throughout the nation. Current procedures and services are consistent with the appropriate rules issued by these regulatory authorities.
In Indian civil aviation, BCAS oversees security processes, while the DGCA oversees safety processes in Indian civil aviation. As such, they are regulated about their activities by the suitable BCAS and DGCA regulations. Safety processes are created by a Safety Committee consisting of senior leadership with accountability for safety and security issues and each department's heads. Dedication to secure activities is evident through the involvement in globally acknowledged safety audits and our safety training processes, investment in safety-related equipment, flight information collection for equipment evaluation and monitoring, and the use of safety standards systems and processes.
The IATA, or International Air Transport Association, Operational Safety Audit, or IOSA, is an internationally known and adopted assessment scheme intended to evaluate an airline's operational management and control processes. IOSA certification certifies our obligation to comply with global safety standards to help decrease our insurance premiums.
They also underwent the U.S.-based LOSA Collaborative-Line Operation Safety Audit. In 2016 they executed inner LOSA and in 2017 they executed ILOSA (IndiGo LOSA). They carry out security audits willingly once in two years to verify the lapses in accordance with IOSA norms. The company is a member of the Flight Safety Foundation (FSF), USA to satisfy all global safety criteria. The 2017 IOSA renewal audit had nil results according to globally set norms. In two successive renewal audits in 2015 and 2017, the company had nil findings, reinforcing the fact that the company's safety standards are on par with the world standard.
They have introduced a solid, well-rounded and documented security management scheme, which includes safety processes and information collection linked to safety, intended to define and report risks or incidents before they happen, and to guarantee that their staff know their responsibilities in maintaining compliance with security norms. Safety Committee shall ensure that all safety procedures are complied with in advance in order to avoid any lapses. They have installed software on all aircraft to report to the centralized operations control center engine performance and maintenance information.
This Safety Committee meets with all departmental heads on a weekly basis to review actions and track different risks at all stations and devise plans to minimize hazards. The Committee is accountable for reviewing the execution of the Hazards Management System through unified monitoring of multiple risks and hazards at all places. The Hazard Management System monitors and checks the risk records designed by Safety Inspectors and different qualified staff to manage the repeated existence of hazards and risks.IndiGo is committed to investing in its employees' professional development. Aviation is a place where women staff make up an important portion of the complete workforce. They provide a secure, hygienic and human atmosphere that upholds all our workers' dignity. With internally held trainings, presentations and meetings, they teach our staff at frequent intervals to improve their skills.
They provide the staff with multiple facilities to make them feel secure and fulfilled at work, such as policy on flexible working hours, policy on night shift allowances, compensatory off policy, policy on maternity benefits, policy on paternity leave and others. They provide all female staff with a cabin guard if they work late. Female staff's safety is the responsibility of their respective supervisors, guided by our safety rules. All instances of harassment are handled with extreme sensitivity and are resolutely escalated.
To maintain the staff informed, involved and empowered, they conduct several projects on a regular basis. Caring for employee well-being is essential to their culture of job. In line with the revised legislative structure, the company has several worker welfare policies in line with this strategy.
They provide training for all staff at their Ifly-the training academy where IndiGo's culture and spirit is developed through a learning management system, a set of features intended to produce, monitor, report and handle learning material, learner performance and learner interactions.
