A lot of different things can impact a person’s life in such a way that becomes a lifelong experience. I believe my family has had a huge impact in my life. Family is the foundation of societal values; ethics and the family members are the first teachers of it. Parents directly teach their children many values. As we grow, we learn many things from our family that will benefit our society. Almost everything that we learn as a child comes from parenthood and how we interact with our parents.

Family paves the way for Religious pathway for an individual. Growing up, we come across different facts about the religion we follow and that from various people but the foundations of it our laid at home. From the very beginning of our childhood we are exposed to many mythological stories and customs that describe the essence of the religion and this goes on passing through generation. Not just religious aspects but even if we look at the sentiment of Nationality, it’s the family that first tries to inculcate it into the child as he/she grows up. It’s the family who the first sets an example for an individual by showing him the values and culture of a Nation and eventually making him realise that they’re expected to be observed by each citizen of the country.

If we are to consider the values and practices that shape us as a person i.e., how we treat others, how we behave at workplace? Do we indulge in any unfair practices or tend to cheat on others etc., it is the family that is to a large extent responsible for it. It is however dependent on an individual whether he seriously and religiously follow on the things and values taught by the family member or paves a different path for themselves. Be it the good things like – honesty, hard work, respecting elders etc., or the bad ones like – ill-treating others, opting unfair practices to achieve things, it is at home an individual is exposed to these things as living in a close circle of people we tend to adapt many of their habits. This is an extremely common human tendency.

When a person does a good or bad it is the judgement goes on their family and on what values they’ve been taught, how they’ve nurtured the person. So, it becomes a responsibility of the individual to keep the values and things that’ve been taught with them in their day-to-day lives and try to pass them on to their upcoming generations.

Influence of Education

Apart from home we’re taught many things in form of formal schooling. The things we are taught at home are further nurtured at school and there is further addition to an individual’s knowledge of values, ethics and other aspect of life that affect their day- to-day activities. Examples of these can be – Manners that prevent you from getting embarrassed at certain situations, how to work in Group, Leadership qualities etc.

Education is not all about academics but also involve physical activities. There is an old saying “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” which simply translates as – When a person indulges himself only in work and does not perform other activities, it makes him a dull and boring person. This notion is applicable on all beings. Apart from their aspect physical activities also to an extent inculcated a habit of physical workout in an individual from very beginning. Physical activities are very necessary for a healthy life and to lead a healthy lifestyle one must do exercises daily. Physical education as a part of academia helps in developing this habit in turn helping shape a healthy life for them.

The interdisciplinary nature of education helps a person to gain knowledge not just limited to mainstream academics but to a wide horizon of subjects. Sociology, Management, Computers, Physical education, Psychology etc. play a vital role in shaping a person’s personality to a large extent. Its from the concepts learnt from these subjects, a person is exposed to larger understanding of the life and many of its aspects. One of the effects of getting a good education is that you'll be able to get better pay. People who graduated just from high school had a lower pay than people who finished their degree. People with a good education can get a higher level of employment; they can be managers, for example. Also, it’ll be easier and faster for them to find good jobs.

Another good effect for people of getting a good level of education is that they will feel proud of themselves. They’ll feel secure in the society. They are confident when they talk to other people and feel prouder of their higher level of knowledge. If people get a good education, they can meet more people and travel all around the world without facing any difficulties.

Lastly education can have on people is that they are able to help people when they don't understand something. They can help their own children with their homework. In addition, educated people can set an example for their children as well as other members of the family. The relationship of youth and family is explained. It discusses the role of parents and family members in the development of youth. It explains the responsibilities of parents to guide their children in taking right decisions.

It says that family is where the heart lies. If parents put good efforts in nurturing their children, then it will not only affect the child but also shape the society. The development of the society is directly influenced by the upbringing of children. It also mentions the busy lifestyle of parents because of which they cannot give proper time and energy to their children. I could totally relate to the fact that parents need to spend enough time with their children and help them in their day to day life problems and challenges.

It discusses the need for proper guidance and upbringing with good values and norms to the youth as they make transition towards adulthood. It discusses that youth in the present generation do not get enough time with their parents due to long working hours. This is a disadvantage for the youth. I completely agree with this study.

It tells the story of a boy Mukesh who failed to cope up with his studies in class 12th and suffered from anxiety and depression. His father was a businessman who lived in France and had a tight schedule. Mukesh’s mother was also working personnel and had a full-time job. As he had no one to share his problems, he opted to smoking and drugs for escapism. He came under bad influence that lead him to make wrong decisions in his life and finally when he couldn’t cope up with all this, he committed suicide.

The study discusses about how early education aims to close gaps in achievement levels between children. It further discusses on how the key goal of education should be to maximise the potential of a child rather than equalizing their performances. Conditions prevailing in the vicinity of a child as he develops have been thoroughly discussed in the paper and how these conditions affect a child’s growth as an educated being. The researchers have advocated for equity in the education system as the research talks of how economic scarcity lead to negative outcomes in the such as decreased performance in school.

There is an article on how genetics can also be to some extent linked with academic achievements. However, due to the variable nature of genes such implications can be overcome as the generation changes. The paper also highlights how the biological research on impact of education on an individual has become a driving force in re shaping of the existing education system.

In the conclusion, there has been a mention that how early educational exposure fail to show good results for children who are impoverished or have in raised in such an environment. As per a report it takes an average of 50 years (i.e., 3 generations) for a person belonging to impoverished family to come out of poverty and for an incremented standard of living but this is not the case with well-off people who experience this incremental change in every generation. The early educational intervention does not eliminate individual differences between children and the differences continue to prevail in the society.

The learning of specific knowledge and skills is a direct effect of classroom teaching (Good & Brophy, 1986b). The paper discusses how the things taught in school to a large extent affects a child’s motivation to learn or avoid learning. The selective review focuses on direct and indirect effects of school on a child’s development. The review begins with study of significant effects of early schooling on a child. The finding of this study are as follows:

  • higher monthly earnings at age 27 (29% vs 7% earning $2000 or more per month)
  • higher level of schooling completed (71 % vs 54% completing 12th grade or higher)
  • low percentage receiving social services at some time in the past 10 years (59% vs 80%)
  • fewer arrests by age 27 (7% vs 35% with 5 or more), as well as fewer arrested for crimes of drug taking or dealing (7% vs 25%).

The studies from the research not only shows the impact on a person’s family life but also on how education can help eradicate poverty in groups/ communities and significantly help in reducing the crime. Education does indeed make the world a better place to live. Thus, I believe all social forces are interrelated and each social force plays a very important role in everyone’s life. It’s totally upon the person how he or she how optimistically makes efforts to bring about change in their life upon these social forces.
