A lot of people think it's okay to smoke and drink everyday and do other types of drugs whether they know or don’t that it can damage your body in many ways. I say people should have more self control on themselves and not abuse these drugs. Who knows the type of damage it can do to your body whether its now or later in the future. The symptoms that can be caused by drugs can be life threatening to you or any future children you might want to have. People should take control when it comes to using drugs instead of letting drugs control them.

Substance abuse is crossing the line. Reusing this can result in body and brain issues and can cause serious damage. It can also be bad for the people you are around. Lets say if you drink to much you get drunk or use enough drugs which can make you miss out on work, school or other important things you have going on in your life and/or you lose friends because of how much you smoke or drink more than your suppose to, you substance use is most likely at an abuse level and that is a big problem!

Illegal drugs does count as substance abuse. Illegal drugs does more than just changing your mood and making you feel “better”. These drugs can make you think harsh things and fill your mind up with judgment. These causes can put you in major danger if your out in public and it can get you injured. These drugs are illegal for a reason because they are addictive and can cause severe damage and they only should be prescribed by doctors if you need them.

“Drug overdose deaths have significantly increased since 1999, particularly overdose deaths involving opioids and benzodiazepines. The AAFP supports education of the lay public and medical community about prevention, early recognition and treatment of overdoses. Effective strategies to decrease substance use disorder and overdose death require interdisciplinary coalitions, often including law enforcement, legislators, educators, jurisdictional leaders, and other community resources.”People argue that some drugs are not effectively bad such as marijuana.

Many people argue that Marijuana is not addictive like any other bad drugs but it can have the same result and can cause damage. Marijuana can kill brain cells just like any other drug you use and can cause you to feel some type of way like feeling slow, confused, paranoid, and maybe had you act funny all of a sudden. Most marijuana smokers are teens. “A survey of more than 46,000 teens 8th, 10th, and 12th graders to be exact showed that 13 percent of 8th graders, 30 percent of 10th graders, and 40 percent of 12th graders say they have used a drug at least once in the past year” (https://teens.drugabuse.gov). Results revealed that 78 percent of teens have drankin before and 47 percent have used drugs. When it comes to drugs, teens think its fun to be on them when they’re hanging out with their friends or going to parties and do whatever everyone else is doing. The thing is when it comes to that it can be very dangerous because you might not know what your doing and you and all your friends might all be on drugs and who knows what might happen out in the world.

Overall i think substance abuse is bad of course because of the possible damage it can do to your body and most of all your mind. People wanna feel lost in their minds and not care what these drugs can possibly do to them in the future. I think people should have more control on what they’re doing and be responsible about their actions and know when to stop taking abuse of drugs.

Many people don't know why so many people become drug addicts. But in reality, drug abuse is a disease that people need to take care of. Drugs can change the brain in ways that make quitting very hard, even for the people who want to quit. “Addiction is a chronic disease characterized by drug seeking and use that is compulsive, or difficult to control, despite harmful consequences”. (www.drugabuse.gov). This means that people don’t know how to control themselves when it comes to using drugs because it does something to your brain which makes you want to use it more because you might like it and that’s the first step to becoming addicted. A lot of drugs affect the brain's reward circuit, causing euphoria as well as flooding it with the chemical messenger dopamine. Surges of dopamine in the reward circuit cause the reinforcement of pleasurable but unhealthy behaviors like taking drugs, leading people to repeat the behavior again and again. Substance abuse can cause serious problems. Increased crime and violence, car accidents caused by driving while on drugs, spreading of infectious diseases, fetal using of alcohol, sexual behavior, people being homeless, and people with no jobs all be the result in multiple forms of substance abuse.

In conclusion being addicted to drugs is a serious problem that you should talk to someone about because it can affect your life and the choices you make and it can also affect the people that care about you because at the end of the day no one wants to see your life fall apart. There are many resources that can help with substance abuse and can help you get over it or help you control it where you don't have to be an addict anymore.
