Mathematics plays an integral part in our daily living, because everything we see, touch, and feel you can’t hide the fact that there is a math involved. Earth doesn’t appear how it looks today if scientists, don’t compute or used mathematics in making our world better. If mathematicians don’t have formulas in solving problems under the sun, everything that surrounds you maybe it doesn’t exist today.

Most of the typical human being hated mathematics because of its nature. They used to think that math is just a subject that gives them hard time in studying. For anyone who doesn’t have the interest in numbers doesn’t give importance to what really math can give us. Many people neglected the real purpose of what mathematics may bring us. It helps us answer problems in an organize way, in which there are patterns, relation, equation, steps, algebra, trigonometric functions in solving easily. It might not be easy understanding the nature of mathematics, but at least giving importance will make it significant. Mathematics is the science of numbers, quantities, shapes and the relations between them. It can be used to explain how something occurs in nature, it explains why and how the sun knows where and when to set. It is easier to count events in numbers than to put them into words.

Perhaps the speculations and rants of humans about math that it can ruin their life is not right, because the math they used to despised is the key to make our life better. Engineers, architect, doctors, scientist, vendors, teachers, businessman, drivers, farmers and every noble occupation uses math. Henry Havelock Ellis state that in mathematics it is notorious that we start from absurdities to reach a realm of law and our whole mathematics conception of the world is based on a foundation which we believe to have no existence.

Without the presence of mathematics, everything would not be in good place. Think about a building that doesn’t have a good shape, every side is sloppy and looks like any minute it will collapse. When we don’t apply math everything will crumble, no straight lines, no right angle, no measurements and everything will not fall into place. Mathematics in the modern world is a methodical application of matter. Mathematics makes our life orderly and prevent chaos. Certain qualities that are nurtured by math are power of reasoning, problem-solving and even effective communications skills. It is the science that deals with logic of shape, quantity and arrangement. Math is all around us, in everything we do. It is the building block for everything in our daily lives, including mobile devices, architecture, art, money, engineering and even sport.

According to the different scientists and mathematicians to sum all their theories they state that, we can better forecast the probability of a future event like the natures’ behavior and the phenomena in the world. Many literatures are published to prove that mathematics is a life changing matter that make everyone aware to what may the nature may bring us.

Scientists developed a mathematical law to explain the size distribution of earthquakes, even in the cases of large-scale earthquakes such as those which occurred in Sumatra (2004) and in Japan (2011). As part of the 'Research in Collaborative Mathematics' project run by the Obra Social 'la Caixa,' researchers of the Mathematics Research Centre (CRM) and the UAB have developed a mathematical law to explain the size distribution of earthquakes. Thus, the mathematical treatment of the problem becomes much more complex than when there is an abundance of data. For Corral, 'this is where the role of mathematics is fundamental to complement the research of seismologists and guarantee the accuracy of the studies.' According to the researcher, the approach currently used to analyse seismic risk is fully correct.

The mathematical expression of the law at the seismic moment, proposed by Serra and Corral, meets all the conditions needed to determine both the probability of smaller earthquakes and of large ones, by adjusting itself to the most recent and extreme cases as well as to determine negligible probabilities for earthquakes of disproportionate magnitudes. Also, the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council (2006) stated that predicting earthquake is a grand challenge problem that’s presently beyond us. But predicting tsunami’s potential based on these earthquakes is a doable problem and thought that mathematicians can play an important role in this. A little more year later, the mathematical analyst says that that mathematics has a role to play in washing away misconceptions and myths about deadly waves and potentially saving lives.

At the American Geophysical Union, Benoit Mandelbrot, a professor of mathematical sciences at Yale University who is considered as the father of fractals, described how he has been using fractals to find order within complex systems in nature, such as the natural shape of a coastline. As a result of his research, earth scientists are taking Mandelbrot’s fractal approach one step further and are measuring past events and making probability forecasts about the size, location, and timing of future natural disasters. Predicting the size, location, and timing of natural hazards is virtually impossible, but now, earth scientists were able to forecast hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, wildfires, and landslides using fractals. A fractal is a mathematical formula of a pattern that repeats over a wide range of size and time scales.

These patterns are hidden within more complex systems. A good example of a fractal is the branching system of a river. Small tributaries join to form larger and larger 'branches' in the system, but each small piece of the system closely resembles the branching pattern as a whole. Fractals is one of mathematical pattern that define as any various extremely irregular curves or shapes for which any suitably chosen part is similar in shape to a given larger or smaller part when magnified or reduced to the same size. This play a vital role in predicting storms, tsunami, waves and any phenomena.

While the natures behavior under water are predicted according to the Journal of Hydraulic Engineering (2019), in order to predict under what conditions and how the dike will break, and therefore rely on the tools needed to anticipate and face this problem, the researchers used a hybrid analysis based on physics equations solved by a mathematical model, and at the same time, performed a series of laboratory experiments to verify whether the equations and the model gave results that were consistent with reality. A reduced scale dike replica made it possible to test the model in order to verify it.

The tests on this model enabled the analysis of the model's predictive capacity, using variables like speed, pressure, water levels and friction with the dike. In addition, the properties of the materials the dike is made up of were taken into account. River dikes are small dams made of earth that are used to hold in the water of the course of a river, without affecting the course too much. However, when the water exceeds a certain level due to flooding, the dike breaks, causing disasters that can be devastating for human life or cause huge financial loss.

Additionally, Mary Jane Sterling stated that you can use trigonometry to graph the changes in high and low tides for a particular location. Along the coast, the tides are of particular interest. They are affected by the gravitational pull of both the moon and the sun. the high tides and low tides follow a periodic pattern that you can model with the same function. This natures behavior in coastal areas are predicted trough trigonometric formula in which it is predicted for the whole year. If you look at the calendar you can see there that there is a designated date when will be high tide or low tide.

Conclusion

I therefore conclude that mathematics can save lives, by simply giving calculations it can prevent accident. Let’s start by just using the four basic operation addition, subtraction, multiplication and division this operations are the foundation of everything. Mathematics is helpful especially when seeking to explain the limitless feeling one gets when contemplating the natural world that exist outside ourselves. Many educated person, especially scientists and engineers, harbor an image of mathematics as a kin to a tree of knowledge, formulas, theorems, and results hang like a ripe fruit. Math is helping us look for universal patterns.

What you see today in the modern world which all appears to be controlled by the rules of mathematics is the culmination of a lot experimentation, observation and error correction. Mathematical tools was invented to described to this national motion.

As we used the tools in mathematics, models we created is corresponding to what is measured and observe in reality. Models that work really well, that predict behaviors in the counterpart to the model which not have been observed, these are taken as “laws of nature”. It provides the framework within our knowledge of the physical world can be converted. Math can be used to explain how something recurs in nature. Additionally, formulas became a way of using numbers to show how things in nature happen together or oppose one another. It is helpful especially when seeking to explain the limitless feeling to the one gets when considering the natural world. Mathematics can surely foretell the behavior and phenomena in the world uses actual state of measure to help us eye the length of all thing.
