Now that we’ve seen the option of the public, what about those who live their life alongside of these exotic animals that work day-in and day-out with these creatures. The circus industry has been around for a very long time, and at one point in time was a very loved and sought after profession, that only a few people could master. From those who walked a tightrope, to the clowns riding a bicycle, to the fierce tiger trainer: this was the life of a circus performer. Taking away the animals from the circus doesn't just take the animals out of the picture, it leaves these trainers jobless and without a means of life. For a circus performer, the circus is a lifestyle, taking the animals out of the circus will no doubt force the circus to shut down because after all who wants to go to the circus without seeing all the animals?
Lawmakers say that the circuses can convert to all human shows, which some have and some are well-known for their human performers, but most of the great shows rely on their spectacular animal attractions to draw in the audience. But as times change so must the world we live, endangered animals act has saved hundreds of animals from extinction, but again lost hundreds. It’s all about the effort put in to save a species, whether its habitat loss, poaching, or other environmental factors, and for the Asian elephant its the breeding capability of the United States Elephant population, whether they come from zoos, sanctuaries or the circus; all available elephants must be used in order to keep the species alive and well.
This transition can be seen as progress towards the preservation of all species of animals, but in this particular case, centers like the one in Florida will be the foundation of keeping the Asian Elephants alive for generations to come. Though the people of the circus love their animals, they also have to understand to be able to share that love with generations yet to come that will also share that same love for the wild creatures and hopefully can someday have an abounce of animals to bring back into captive performance, but until that day comes measures need to be put in place to start better caring for the exotic animals we do have roaming our planet. The Protection of exotic animals will come at the expensive of the circus industry, but this is not a punishment against the circus industry. This will eventually be the saving point of these many exotic animals who need to be converted to better use rather than just means of entertainment.
The Asian elephant in its home country is a very priced animal, and even in its home land is used as a means of show entertainment. They face the exact same challenges as the U.S. and are putting efforts into breeding facilities and try to keep the genetics of the elephant going strong in its native homeland. This dying trend of the circus entertainment life is not just seen within the United States because people around the world are seeing the effects of a growing population of humans and a shrinking population of animals and want to do something about it.
