The Comparison Of Differences Between High School And College
Graduating High School then going to college is one of the most important transitions of childhood to adulthood. Some things may still appear similar, but there will be many huge differences a young adult will experience.First, when it comes to the cost of college, it will be a lot more expensive than high school, the main reasons because of the books, tuition, and living expenses. All students who attend college must pay the fees. College tuition for a year can be around $26,000. In contrast, the government provide funds for high schools, so there is no cost to the students. On top of the cost of college tuition, some students have no choice and live off campus. As a result, the student must rent an apartment near the college which their attending. Rent most times can cost anywhere from $600-1,000 a month.
In contrast, high school students do not have any living expenses, because students often live at home with their guardian or parents. College is a lot more costly when students have to buy books for their classes. Books are very costly, they can cost around $1,000. In contrast, high school students do not have to purchase books, because the school provides every student with all the books they will need.Second, the workload in college is more demanding than the workload in high school. College students are often assigned four or more assignments weekly. In contrast, high school students are assigned at least two assignments weekly. In college, assignments are a lot more challenging and time consuming to complete. In contrast, high school assignments can be completed in a student’s free time and it takes less time to do. Students in college are often expected to arrive in class already having studied the material, so more information can be covered smoothly every semester.
In contrast, this does not happen in a high school, the teachers teach the material. In college it is a student’s choice to arrange their schedule with their advisor, in contrast a high school student's schedule is arranged for them. In college, the grades on tests and papers provide most of the grade for the course. In contrast, in high school good homework grades will raise the student’s grade when test grades are not good.Third, college provides more social events, activities, and independence. Many college provides hundreds of student organizations such as orchestras, jazz combo, choral group, or glee club. In contrast, high school does not provide such a range of clubs or organizations for students. High schools often have small groups because the population is smaller than most colleges. In college there is something to do for mostly everyone, in contrast high school does not always have something for all students' interests and needs.
In college a student must decide if he or she wants to participate in different activities. In contrast, in high school a student must get permission from a parent or guardian to participate in different activities. In conclusion, without any doubt when college and high school are compared and contrasted on the financial, academic and social aspects it is very noticeable that college is a lot more costly, academically challenging, and socially invigorating than a high school environment.
