Reasons Why Late-Term Abortion Should Be Banned

In society today, there are thousands of women who go on the path of abortion. Late-term abortion should be banned. Keep in mind, that it is harmful to babies, the mother, and even society. There should be stronger laws regarding abortion. “The fetus in many cases dies just as a human adult or child would: it bleeds to death as it is torn limb from limb. The fetus can be alive at the beginning of the dismemberment process and can survive for a time while its limbs are being torn off”

Abortion is harmful to the baby. For example, Dr. Levatino described what the abortionist actually does to the helpless child. He said, “Imagine if you can that you are a pro-choice obstetrician or gynecologist like I was” using a Sopher 13 clamp with rows of ridges or teeth. “Grasp anything you can inside the womb.” The article, ‘Late-Terms Babies Born Alive after Abortions Are Left to Die in Canadian Hospitals,” states that “Several Canadian hospitals routinely abort late-term unborn babies or leave them to die if they are born alive during the procedure, according to press reports. The discovery of this practice has led to a firestorm of controversy across the country.” Why have sexual intercourse if you’re not going to take care of the child you made? “The fetus in many cases dies just as a human adult or child would: it bleeds to death as it is torn limb from limb. The fetus can be alive at the beginning of the dismemberment process and can survive for a time while its limbs are being torn off.” People should not choose their child's decision of living if it isn't really their choice. Every baby deserves to at least live. “An unborn child at 20 weeks gestation is FULLY capable of experiencing pain. Without question (abortion) is a dreadfully painful experience.” This shows that the baby feels everything that is going on.

Abortion is also harmful to the mother. “There are no federal reporting requirements for abortion in the United States. Only 26 states require providers to report. And the data provided are estimates.” (Dr. Byron 1). Whether it's the mother's “choice” to not have the baby, it can also take the place of the husband or boyfriend who does not want to keep the baby also. They don't know that it can harm the mother as infection or sepsis, heavy or persistent bleeding, damage to the cervix, damage to the organ, and even death. “Having an abortion is not just a walk in the park,” she explains, “There is the possibility of excessive bleeding or injuries and death. That means your death. So, I am not confident that when consent is given in an abortion clinic that they are given all of that... women have definitely been victimized”. As said by Dr. Bush “Having an abortion is not just a walk in the park.” It isn’t easy to have an abortion, there are side effects also including death. The arguments for banning this procedure are based on maternal safety, fetal pain, and ethical considerations. “A 2016 study by Dr. D Paul Sullins of the Catholic University of America found that women who had abortions were significantly more likely to have one or more mental health disorders than women who lost their pregnancies due to miscarriage (45% versus 24%).”

Abortions can be a harm to society. “Of course, there is no way to know if one of these children would have invented a revolutionary clean energy source, solved world hunger, or ended a war. But many would have surely enriched society, growing up to be teachers, doctors, first responders, conversationalists, or simply loving parents, raising and nurturing the next generation. Unfortunately, society will never know the gifts and contributions it has lost.” Today we know that unborn babies not only die but suffer excruciating pain during dismemberment abortion--cruelty that rips arms and legs off a helpless child. “Mark Olson, a political scientist and pro-life political consultant has calculated the loss in federal tax refund due to abortion. He estimates that, if the abortion performed before Roe b. Wade are taken into account, by 2010 about 17 million abortions had taken place in the United States with a loss in tax revenue of $12.3 trillion. As he writes in the promotional material for his 2014 book, abolition “A nation’s economy cannot be sustained when nearly one-third of its population has been wiped out.” The loss of so many millions of lives to abortion has weakened America.

Americans believe in an inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for a very good reason. A society that respects self-determination allows humans to reach their full potential. As said before, “Many would have surely enriched society, growing up to be teachers, doctors, first responders, conservationists, or simply loving parents, raising and nurturing the next generation.” By looking at the ways in which children whose mothers chose adoption have enriched the world, one can get an idea of the scope of this lost potential. When the mothers do an abortion or loss a pregnancy, they go through a mental illness or trauma. Women who choose abortion do so because of the negative effects of continuing the pregnancy on their mental health and that of their existing children and significant others. Also, “although serious complications occur in fewer than 1 out of 100 first-trimester abortions and approximately 1 out of every 50 late-term abortions.”

When mothers or women choose to do abortions, they will know the serve risks (rare) which are severe, abdominal and back pain that prohibits you from standing, bleeding that is heavier than a normal menstrual period, foul-smelling discharge, fever above 100.4 F, and, also, continuing symptoms of pregnancy. “Hill, who is one of the most successful country artists of all time, is also a noted philanthropist, funding children's literacy projects and raising millions for the survivors of natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, which devastated New Orleans 2004.” Diversity is perhaps the greatest strength of the United States. Research confirms that when people of diverse backgrounds, races, and abilities work together, businesses are more successful, scientific research is of higher quality, and financial markets are stable.

Finally, late-term abortion should not be allowed because, abortion is harmful to babies, abortion is harmful to the mother, and abortion is harmful to society. There should be stronger laws regarding abortion. Every child, or baby, deserves to get a chance to live in this world even if their mother decides to abort. “The fetus in many cases dies just as a human adult or child would: it bleeds to death as it is torn limb from limb. The fetus can be alive at the beginning of the dismemberment process and can survive for a time while its limbs are being torn off.” Abortion shouldn't be taken place in any state whether it's a choice of their own. Abortion is once again a hot issue as dozens of state legislatures pass laws 'designed to reduce the number of abortions performed.
