Perseverance As a Better Option
I believe in perseverance and not giving up when times get hard. In everyone’s lives, there are always many times when giving up seems like the best option. But having the right mindset, trying your best, and having determination create an even better option called perseverance. There have already been many times in my life when I have felt like giving up and there will be many more in the future. But now I think I know that not giving up is an option that I will always have, and will always try to use. I also believe that being perseverant can be very hard. It’s easy to think that giving up has more benefits than working more and reaching the finish line. But reaching the finish line is something that is capable of making you so happy and proud of yourself. Many people in the world have had to be perseverant in their own tough situations, like Martin Luther King Jr, the gymnasts who had to stand up to Larry Nassar, and Rosa Parks.
These people have also inspired me and made me think about what I would do if I were in their positions. If Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks had not been persistent back then, the way we are living today would be completely different. Thinking about this really changes the way that I think about perseverance. An example of when had to be persistent was during midterms. I had a lot of tests leading up to midterms, I had the actual midterms, and that was a time where I had a lot of presentations and projects due. It was hard for me to study for everything and to have to come to school and present my projects. I don’t like presenting stuff and having to work on stuff to present and do good on the tests was pretty hard for me and some days I ended up procrastinating a little bit. It felt like it was okay to do that then, but when I had more work later I realized that I should’ve planned my time better.
After that, I tried to make a schedule that I knew I could follow. It was still pretty hard, but it was a lot better. I was able to persevere through it I ended up doing pretty good on all of my tests. Even if I didn’t have the right mindset at the start, I changed it and I was able to do a lot more than I expected. I believe in the fact that perseverance pays off, and many examples of other people and some of my experiences can prove that too. Vincent Van Gogh had only sold one painting and it was to his close friend. He still went on to make about 800 more paintings and now his paintings cost hundreds of millions of dollars. Before Albert Einstein had become the person that most people think of him as he was expelled from a school and denied entry to another school. These people were able to persevere through the things that seemed impossible to them and have proved that perseverance really does pay off.
