My Intent To Become Petroleum Engineer Within The Oil Sector
Am proudly a Ugandan, and my major concern is helping to revamp the peoples’ livelihoods in my country through sustainable development. My application for this scholarship program necessitates from the existing need for policy- makers with ability to formulate multi-disciplinary strategies to eradicate the intricate challenges that people are facing.
At university, I consistently ranked among the top best students of my class and I graduated with honors receiving a conferment of a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum Geoscience and production. I seek to augment my undergraduate studies and 4 years of work experience within the downstream of the petroleum sector, with a master’s degree in the same field.
The programs I intend to pursue at master’s level will avail me with knowledge and technical expertise that I will require to creatively remediate challenges and innovate outstanding policies that will map the petroleum industry to enhancing long term benefits to our nation.
My short term goal is becoming an influential petroleum engineer within the oil sector, as I gather experience and make more connections to support me as I seek an appointment to the directorate of the petroleum industry in Uganda.
Upon returning home from the UK, I will apply to serve my country in the petroleum sector in a tentatively low leadership position at the start, as I gather more experience and make more connections and friendships that will bear me and back me up as I apply to the critical decision making positions in the Petroleum directorate of Uganda where I will devote to serving the people through aiding the setup of well-structured institutions that will promote good natural resource governance by prioritizing transparency ,good planning and accountability, in addition to preserving human rights and being accountable to public involvement in project design and implementation as a way to fight corruption.
Secondly , the well- structured institutions that I will have setup will regulate the petroleum sector through a synergy with government to develop an appropriate policy framework that clearly stipulates the allocation of obligations among the public and private sectors to delineate an even sub-national transfer of oil revenues to enhance growth in other economic sectors through delivering affordable clean energy, quality education, health care, reduce poverty and promote infrastructural development.
I am also looking forward to collaborating with other government officials during my service within the petroleum directorate of Uganda to Promote local development by formulating mandatory policy schemes in the oil industry that prioritize involvement of local content and maximization of corporate social responsibility. Furthermore, I plan to stimulate the Mapping of the oil sector to enhancing long term development in Uganda, by leveraging all stakeholders within the sector to incorporate the climatic and environmental safety aspects into their operations and business by taking initiatives to identify risks, assess impacts and execute appropriate mitigation measures to curb detrimental outcomes. I plan to take back knowledge from my UK postgraduate studies to my country to teach and mentor young citizens to be more prospective.
