Movie Reaction Paper: The Circle
This movie was all about a woman who lands a dream job at a powerful tech company called "The Circle", only to uncover an agenda that will affect the lives of all of humanity. She is encouraged by the company's founder, Eamon Bailey, to engage in a groundbreaking experiment that pushes the boundaries of privacy, ethics and ultimately her personal freedom. Also her participation in the experiment, and every decision she makes, begin to affect the lives and future of her friends, family and that of humanity. My reaction on this movie is the same as Mae’s moderate curiosity mixed with major unease but it makes sense and can be convincingly presented. Hearing it come from an eager twenty-something unsettles us. But hearing it from a guy like Eamon Bailey makes us start to really question things. And maybe that’s the point of the movie.
The importance of privacy is the theme of this movie. With complete transparency, you're exposed to everyone including criminals. I don't like telling Facebook when I'm away from my house because of the potential for break in. Watching this will make you understand the importance of caution and privacy. For it was very underrated movie unfortunately, most people can't appreciate that this movie could give one of the best, very innovative & revolutionary way to make real progress for the future of our human's civilization. In my opinion the movie was amazing and it discusses more of what's in the persons mind than what's on the screen, I feel like the ending is clear, with our own power we can lead the way without the need of someone to have power over us, if we were righteous. The corruption within the movie was faced with the power of the people in being sincere and ideal, as well as the luck of being privileged eliminated the fact that anyone from the circle could be corrupt or act based on survival or rather greed. I get the concept of the movie it's basically to sum it up is how corporations are basically watching everything we do and also trying to get to the highest levels of things to make the world a "better place" even though the corporation in this movie is trying to make being private non existent. The thing I didn't like about this movie it just didn't add up as much as I would hope. It really does reflect real life.
A perfect example of our society, and how selfish, destructive, evil, and unethical people are. I just want people to know the fact that they are scum instead of pretending otherwise. It cares more on the peace and harmony of society by employing ideas and technology to make things better. Morals take a back seat and truth can be sacrificed at times. Totalitarianism is real and it's here. We are living in it, but the average person has learned to adapt and even enjoy their enslavement. If there will be no secret there wont be any long lasting problems, there will be accountability were humanities growth will be sky rocketed towards much better future, but there still would be need control mass sentiment. I will put privacy than security in first place. Living under no risk is good for us, but life will be boring and dull, can you imagine a world that without any crime and accident, but no privacy? I cannot live in a world like that. If you have cameras following you wherever you go, you might be on your best behavior. But you would be living a fake life, always trying to please others, instead of being yourself. The only thing that I was a bit unsure of was the ending. It just stopped. The needs of the society and the needs of the individual are definitely NOT the same. A big named corporation with intentions on "changing" the world and watching every move you make that ACTUALLY has an EVIL intentions? what a weird concept. However, This move is actually a reality, It's not just Google watching us but the government too. In the end, it turns out that the "The Circle" is blume corporation.
