During the Salem Witch trials there was a lot of people that were accused of doing or taking part in the craft. Some of the people that were accused of this are as following sarah good ,abigail williams, betty parris. Sarah osbome, and tituba. These ladies come from different type of classes so as you can see it wasnt all ain=med to a specific type of group. The first person the first person that was accused of witchcraft is john proctor. John Proctor was successful farmer one might call him. People respected him and did not suspect such things from him. John was the first male to be accused of witchcraft john wasn’t from around those parts he was born in england but when he got there he lived out his life. He married his fist wife her name was martha later on she died then married his wife elizebbeth.

When the witchcraft hysteria first began in Salem village in the winter Proctor became an outspoken opponent of the trials and stated to many that the afflicted girls who had been accusing many of the villagers of witchcraft were frauds and liars Proctor is husband to Elizabeth Proctor, former lover of Abigail Williams, employer of Mary Warren, friend of Giles Corey and Francis Nurse and not a fan of Reverend Parris. Proctor is described by Miller as “respected and even feared in Salem,” having “a sharp and biting way with hypocrites” even though he “regards himself as a kind of a fraud” due to his affair with Abigail Williams.

Abigail is the niece of Reverend Parris and the cousin of Betty Parris. She also used to work as a servant with the Proctors, before she was sent away by Elizabeth Proctor for having an affair with Elizabeth’s husband John. She is friends with Mercy Lewis and eventually becomes the ringleader of the afflicted girls . Miller describes Abigail as seventeen…a strikingly beautiful girl, an orphan, with an endless capacity for dissembling in essence he is calling her a pretty little liar. Abigail is accused by her uncle of dancing in the woods possibly naked and of being soiled; she vehemently denies this, but when he leaves Betty wakes and accuses Abigail of drinking a potion to kill Elizabeth Proctor. Eventually, Abigail manages to get out of being punished by first accusing Tituba of forcing her to drink the potion and then appearing to confess her bewitching and accusing others of witchcraft.

Mary Warren is a servant to John and Elizabeth Proctor and part of the group of girls accusing people of witchcraft Mary shows up at the Parris household to confer with Abigail and Mercy about what’s going on since they were all dancing in the woods the night before.
