Voes Bigfoot Really Exist Or Not
Table of contents
While science is powerful, there are some things it can’t explain. When people see, or hear, things they can’t explain, science tries to prove those things don’t exist. One of those things people have reported seeing, and scientists can’t explain, is Bigfoot—also known as Sasquatch. Because science can’t prove a universal negative, they are unable to prove Bigfoot doesn’t exist. This means it is possible Bigfoot exists.
Who, or What, is Bigfoot?
What is Bigfoot? Bigfoot is a giant creature who looks a bit like an ape. He, or she, is known to roam the Pacific Northwest. For years, people across the United States have reported seeing large, hairy beasts that look like men, or large apes. No bodies have ever been recovered, no hunters have ever killed one, a Bigfoot has never been hit by a car or died a natural death. No bones have ever been recovered. But, despite any physical evidence, there have been thousands of reported sightings and blurry photos taken by eyewitnesses across the country. Sightings of Bigfoot are typically reported in the Northwest, but these creatures have been seen all over America.
Myths and Legends
The myth of Bigfoot has been around for decades, but interest in these legends grew during the latter half of the 20th century. This was due to magazine articles, movies, and TV shows which brought Bigfoot to life for the American public.
Eyewitness Reports
Most of the evidence surrounding Bigfoot comes from eyewitness reports. Science considers this the weakest kind of evidence, because eyewitness testimony is generally unreliable. Psychologists and police believe people have trouble accurately describing things they’ve seen, especially if they are describing something they saw in dim light or something hidden by trees, like most Bigfoot sightings are. Many Bigfoot sightings have been proven to be hoaxes, but not all. Because not all sightings can be explained away as mistakes, it’s possible they are true.
Photographic Evidence
In 1967, a short film of Bigfoot was recorded. This is most famous image of Bigfoot ever captured. The film was shot by Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin in Bluff Creek, California. The video shows an ape-like, man-sized figure striding through a clearing; the figure looks to be covered with hair, with arms nearly dragging the ground. While the film was considered a hoax, it was never proven to be one, and it still remains the best evidence for Bigfoot ever recorded.
Many people question the film’s validity, as it’s the only one ever recorded. They wonder where all the other Bigfoot recordings are; why there haven’t been more; why hasn’t anyone else ever filmed a Bigfoot? It seems that with today’s technology—as everyone seems to have a camera in their pockets, there should be more videos of Bigfoot by now. It could simply be that Bigfoot either knows where people are at all times and avoids them, or the creature has some kind of special ability to emit light waves that make it impossible to capture them on camera.
