Physical education requirements are updated to reflect how an active lifestyle benefits the student's well-being. Inadequate physical activity can have a negative effect on the individual’s confidence. The school district welcomes high school students to enroll into track and field programs as a requirement for graduation. To earn the credits students must participate in track and field for one season or two years of ROTC. The financial grant of $100,000 would cover the expenses to start a new athletic program. Physical education within institutions has become an essential facet for the fitness/health of students. The curriculum focuses on improving the students' performance conditions by educating them how to properly take care of their physique.

Those who belong to an athletic community may experience reduced stress when interacting with teammates. Friendships are established in competitive environments because everyone is cohesively working together to achieve athletic goals. A competitive environment establishes problem solving and leadership skills which can translate into a classroom setting. The track and field program assists students to participate in traditional sports. A 5,000 square-foot facility adjacent to Gloucester High School is recommended for athletes to exercise. Programs include cross country (800 meters), marathons (1,500 meters), racewalking (400 meters), and triathlons (3,000 meters). The required equipment to properly operate a track and field program involves athletic wear, footwear, first aid kit, megaphones, and stopwatches.

Classes are scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Students participating in athletic events have an opportunity to perform under a controlled environment. Sports is designed to enlighten students with the value of exercise to help reduce emotional stress, illness, and obesity. One credit of athletics is mandatory for students; they must participate in athletics for one season or two years of ROTC to graduate. Enrolling in athletics is the bare minimum for graduation thus educators need to emphasize the significance of physical education and staying active during school hours. Outdoor recreation can influence students towards finding activities they personally enjoy or explore different sports at their own leisure. One positive experience can evolve into a permanent athletic hobby. Educators should encourage physical activities because it might be the only source of exercise these students obtain. Funding The school district’s economic inconsistency hinders the athletic curriculum by minimizing the physical education requirements. Some facilities receive insufficient funding from the school district.

External funding such as a grant proposal can aid the institution amid economic oppression. Qualifying for a grant proposal allows the athletic department to purchase track and field equipment as necessary. Additional revenue from community members via fundraising to financially support the track and field program by reviewing the guidelines related to public funding. The budget will provide feedback on grant requests to demonstrate a realistic outlook to provide students a satisfying fitness experience. Few students don’t have the interest or time to participate in extracurricular activities thus it's influential to find a balance between schoolwork and exercise. Numerous students barely participate in athletics thus illustrates the significance of physical education and a healthy diet. It’s the institution’s responsibility to motivate students who haven’t had the chance to compete in sports.
