Three Main Reasons Why Roman Empire Lost Its Edge
Did you know that the Romans/Roman Empire lost their edge and started falling apart? These three reasons are why they lost their edge because of laziness and decline of chest plates and helmets, natural disasters and huns. These three reasons out of many are why Rome was losing its edge.Their empire was so big that once they reached their goal they all got lazy.
To start of foot soldiers would get lazy because the chest plates and helmets were heavy this was one of the many reasons. Since the armor was custom to the foot soldiers to them it was to heavy since they rarely even wear the armor. There were so many disasters which led to loss of great cities. None of the soldiers would try to wear helmets and chest plates to the wars. The foot soldiers would get wounds since they didn’t have the chest plates or helmets in the wars. To the Roman Empire this shows that it was very important to them since they would lose many foot soldiers because they didn’t wear the armor that they had to wear.
Further more, in 366 CE Rome had a huge earthquake which meant that the tide would go back and turn into an immense flood and this made Rome fall and lose their edge. Due to this flood at least fifty thousand people had lost their lives during the flood. Rome’s fearful vanity was the ways people are going to act like the decline of the empire and sinking empire. The flood also brought diseases which came from southern Asia to new areas. It was were no resistance was established even to contagious diseases such as measles. The population of Rome was decreased to 25,000 people due to the flood. The Roman empire cared about the flood a lot because it made the Roman empire’s population decrease and made many people not want to be in the Roman empire because of the flood.
Lastly, the final reason the empire fell is because of constant barbarian invasions. By this I mean that the barbarians would invade the empire and go in others property and steal persons valuables. The huns would also keep invading the Roman empire. The huns would also eat all types of animals while traveling. The huns would also use the animals fur to keep warm when it was cold, they would put it under their legs or on their backs. The huns would stay on their horses at all times. The huns would also have a feeling of seizing others property which was bad because they would take others property. Many Romans would care about this because the Huns would take their things and their properties.
