Pros And Cons Of Providing Us Citizenship To Central American Refugees

I am torn on what side to pick. I can see both, the positive and negative, on providing automatic U.S. citizenship to Central American children who come to the U.S. by themselves in order to escape violence in their home countries.

The negative part about providing automatic U.S. citizenship to Central American children who come to the U.S. by themselves in order to escape violence in their home countries is that United States is already overpopulated by U.S. citizens and illegal immigrants that we can’t take any more kids who cross the border illegally. We have families and children from all over the world crossing the borders illegally and this just adds one more country into the mix can really put the United States at jeopardy. Even though the kids want to escape violence in their home countries, if they want to move, they need to go through the necessary steps to go through the formal immigration process.

Also, if these kids continue to cross the border on their own, where are they going to sleep, what are they going to eat, how will they be able to afford stuff, what jobs will they take away from US citizens? Also, if the kids were granted U.S citizenship, then regular U.S. citizens taxes would dramatically rise so that the government could provide for the children who were granted.

The positive part about providing automatic U.S. citizenship to Central American children who come to the US by themselves in order to escape violence in their home countries is that these are still children and still have a long life to live and that they shouldn’t be going through the troubles in there home country, so I do think they should be granted U.S. citizenship. I think that the children wanting to apply for the U.S citizenship should meet certain requirements and expectations, before continuing with granting them with the citizenship. I think if the children are granted the U.S. citizenship, they should be put into a foster home because they are still children and cannot work so they can’t legally support themselves.

Even though the foster homes are already over populated with kids, I think it is the smartest decision for the kids to live until they can legally support themselves. Another positive part about providing these children with automatic U. S. citizenship, is that they are escaping from troubles back at home and they they are given another chance with a better life.

I am really torn about whether we should or should not provide automatic U. S. citizenship to Central American children who come to the U. S. by themselves in order to escape violence in their home countries. I think it’s mainly up to the government to make that decision.
