Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer was a serial killer and sex offender born on May 21st of 1960 to Joyce and Lionel Dahmer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. An infamous serial killer shocked the the nation with his childhood, crimes, punishment and eventual death.
The childhood of one of the most known serial killers was quite distressing. Jeffrey Dahmer was a quiet and shy boy, his parents were absent most of the time, leaving Dahmer alone. His father was in college, earning a Chemistry Degree and his mother always had health issues, "While his father became kind of distant... his mother was going through some real mental problems". In 1966, the family moved to Bath, Ohio, the town where it all began. Dahmer became more introverted than ever. No friends to socialize with, he became one with nature. ".... he went to his own world, playing with dead animals". A group of teenagers walked behind the Dahmer household and found the decapitated head of a dog, on a stick. "Dahmer cleaned all the flesh and fur of animals and used chemicals his father gave him...". Jeffrey Dahmer's childhood helped shape his heinous acts.
The crimes committed by the infamous killer shocked America, Jeffrey Dahmer was culpable for 17 murders of young men from 1987 to 1991. Dahmer's first victim was a 19-year-old hitchhiker, Steven Hicks. He picked him up and encouraged Hicks to have a couple of drinks with him, at his father's home. "We talked, had some drinks, I knocked him out, that was the first time". The couple had sex after a few drinks, but, when Steven decided it was time to go, Dahmer pummeled him with a barbell. Hicks died instantly. Dahmer severed Hicks' body and placed his parts in garbage bags. He buried them around his father's property.
Dahmer's second victim, a homosexual male from a bar, Steven Tuomi. Dahmer took Tuomi to is hotel, drugged him then proceeded to rape him. Dahmer woke up next to the beaten body of last night's conquest. "When I woke up in the morning, my forearms were bruised, his chest was bruised...I didn't know I had killed him".Supporting Point 3: Konerak Sinthasomphone, was only 14 years old, when he became victim number 13. Sinthasomphone almost escaped a violent death, he had stumbled outside, looking for help. Two women saw the boy, naked and disoriented. The police were called, but before they could question the boy, Dahmer arrived. "Dahmer just walked up to the crowd and admitted that, that was his lover, still drunk from the night before".
Jeffrey Dahmer moved to capturing victims, once a week. He would meet them at a gay bar, or bathhouse and lured them with free alcohol or money to pose for pictures, Dahmer would slice his victims, get rid of unnecessary remains, and store the rest. The crimes brought horror and uneasiness to the community, which hoped for an end.
Jeffrey Dahmer's freedom came to a halt, with justified punishment and eventual death. The summer of 1991, Dahmer's last victim, Tracy Edwards escaped from death. Edwards went outside, naked and looking for help. "Officers were a block down on a different call when Edwards ran to the Officers". Tracy Edwards took police back to Dahmer's apartment. Dahmer was inside waiting, when he saw the officers, he tried to diffuse the tension and told them he would get the keys to uncuff Edwards. "That's where [officers] found photographs of some mutilated bodies".
Jeffrey Dahmer's trial began in the New Year of 1992. Most of Dahmer's victims were African-American, this made the community enraged and believed his acts were racially motivated. Dahmer was placed behind an eight-foot barrier of bulletproof glass for security. Jeffrey Dahmer confessed to 17 murders, without compelling evidence, he was not charged for one of the murders. Dahmer was charged with 15 consecutive life sentences in Wisconsin."This defendant will never again see freedom" He was later transferred to Ohio, to add one more life sentence, for the death of Steven Hicks.
On November 28 of 1994, Jeffrey Dahmer was beaten to death by his fellow inmate, Christopher Scarver. Patrick Kennedy, who was the lead Detective on the Dahmer Case, said he had become a sort-of friend to Dahmer after spending weeks together, during the investigation. Kennedy said his Captain came to him that morning and said "Hey Kennedy they killed your boy! "
Kennedy's partner, Dennis Murphy, was visiting the Correctional Institute of Wisconsin, to gather information on another case. Kennedy mentioned that his partner visited Dahmer, and briefly chatted. "Once I get in gen pop, I'll be killed" Dahmer confessed to Murphy, months prior to his death. Conclusion: Jeffrey Dahmer, the norious serial killer that shocked the world. His early life, crimes and death, were the most gruesome and disturbing events that the notion had ever seen. "I didn't ever want freedom. Frankly, I wanted death for myself"
