Exploring The Contrast Between Childhood And Adulthood
Childhood and adulthood are different situations in our life. This essay is going to compare and contrast childhood and adulthood. Childhood is the period when we are starts to grow our lives. Childhood is contrasted with infant, we are still young babies. Children can’t think, speak and take decision about family but they can about themselves. Adulthood is that time in our we are grown, and we develop as people. Through the world, the Starting of adulthood is usually legally to start at age is 18 or 21 years old. However, adults become independent, responsible for our own actions, and able to involve and take the decision by themselves.
Children are less responsible then adult because they do not have any responsibilities expect to take their toys and play with the same age kids. Children do not have any economic responsibility they can just ask their parents for some things to get it, and sometimes get from their parents they ask for, and sometimes don’t get the things. Children often have a lot of energy and activeness because they are young and strong. Children do not have to worry about any type of bills payment because they depend on their parents. Children are less responsible and do not have to anxious about what is going to happen in life because they do not know what is going to start in their life. The child is not developed like an adult, they are different by age. According to Shutts, Kristin, Green, C. Shawn, Pollak, Seth D (2018), “In contrast to the research described earlier with infants and young children, probability learning tasks allow for direct comparison across ages. However, the probability learning task literature contains conflicting reports of developmental differences, in particular with regard to matching versus maximizing” (p.3).
There is also a huge difference between child and adult responsibilities, the child is not liable to anything, His parents or guardians who will be responsible for a decision he may perform any decision he will build. Child are less participating in family matter than adult because of age they do not have any communication skill to talk with everybody. “one purpose of this study was to determine whether differences in communication levels and age and residential status were associated with differences in the frequencies and type of communication acts produced by these participants”. (McLean LK, Brady NC, McLean JE, Behrens GA, 1999, p. 5).
An adult normally has more responsibilities because now they are self-dependent. They now juggle between social and their personal lives. An adult having more economic responsibilities, do not have more freedom their expenses because they have other family members responsibilities. They have to work, which means that they have more responsibilities and family to depend on them. The adult knows they need to borrow their money and where they need to spend money. Allan, Malita, Taylor, Janet, Borlagdan, Joseph (2013) shows in their research that “The examples of Melissa and Chris illustrate how social, cultural and economic resources shape the experience of young people. For those who had no choice but to take on family responsibilities, “adulthood” was about these responsibilities rather than freedoms. This “burden” was shaped by economic, cultural and social factors – including genders” (p. 6).
The adult is now engaged in their life than a child. They usually feel more anxious because they have social, family and their personal life activities that they have to finish. The adult must depend on themselves because they are now independent. No one going to support them financially and any other type of responsibilities, they are healthy and able to work. The adult is more developed than the child because the adult is responsible for their family, job, social work and if they are going to college, they must be punctual and honest for that work. Adults are more tired than children due to the amount of work they have every day. They suffer from fatigue because of their responsibilities while children often have wake up in the morning and play with friends. Adult need to take responsibility for making a decision for other people who are now depending on him. The person is responsible for himself and other people they are living with the same family. According to Andersson, Hakan, Sweden, Bergman, Lars R (2011), “the development of task persistence is dependent on many factors, and some of the major factors involve temperamental difference (Rothbart & Bates,1998), the child-caregiver relationship(Fonagy &Target,2002; Sroufe, Egeland, Carlson, &Collins,2005), cognitive abilities (Barkley,1997), and the demand of the society (e.g., formal Schooling; Zhou et al., 2007). several studies have found moderate to high stability of task persistence and the higher order trait conscientiousness in childhood and from adolescence into adulthood ( Caspi & Silva 1995; Judge et al.,1999; Klimstra, Hale, Raaijmakers, Branje, & Meeus,2009)” (p. 1).
There are big differences between childhood and adulthood. The adult has more responsible, developed and anxious than the child. And, every people have their individual experience of childhood life and becoming an adult.
