In the 18th century, France was a prosperous and flourished country, but it has an operating system which caused a lot of troubles, especially the tax system. The way the social structure is what we now called Ancien Régime. Almost all French citizens dislike this system because the only people with money (the clergy and the nobles) never paid taxes. As time passes, in 1789, France was officially bankrupted because they funded the American Revolution. Debt-ridden, the king Louis XIV spent half of the federal budget for the public liability. Along with a hailstorm, which exterminates a few years' harvests, the price of the food had been raised to a new incredible level. Severe hunger has provoked people's inner anger (not only the anger about food but also the potential anger of the nobilities and inequality in sex for women) and has 'planted a seed' for the future revolution, especially the Women's March on Versailles. In the Anciem régime, all men were not even in equality, much less women, so this march is the first crucial European feminist movement. In the traditional régime, the Europeans thought that women and men are in a 'separate sphere' which means that women shouldn't interfere or involve with men's decision in politics cause men never think 'irrationally' but women always tend to 'take radical actions'. If go back to the Old Testament which Europeans borrowed a lot of cultures from, the story of Adam and Eve. In this story, the snake allure Eve, the woman, but not Adam, the man. This story kind of goes into an idea that women will always make a corrupting influence on men and women is really the leading factor of human nature sin, and that's why women's position needs to be isolated in a separate sphere.

Louis XVI is the last Bourbon (the last name of the branch of a royal family in France) king of France who was executed for the crime of treason. He's known as the king who liberated the United States, the king who lead to the French revolution and the king who bankrupted his own country. One of the conflicts on him is that he was beheaded in the French revolution while he was trying to improve American's liberty. When France's economy starts to decline, Louis XVI, as a good person but not a good king, decide not to raise the taxes of citizens while still funding the American revolution. The accumulated debt start to set the beginning of the French revolution. By the mid-1780s, the country was nearly bankrupt. In response to the crisis, Louis XVI called for a meeting called the Estate General, which the meeting didn't go very well. The Estates-General is like a parliament made up of representatives from the first estate, nobles, second estate, clergies, and the third estate, commoners (everyone else). Then, the third estate decided to gather around and to form their own National Assembly, which is the start of the French Revolution, and Louis XVI was forced to acknowledge the legitimacy of the National Assembly. Some significant issues for France were that the king wanted to remain king, but he made a position in which there could no longer be a king, and more importantly, the monetary. The royalties always failed to realize the miserable life of the commoners while the king had lavish feasts. Furthermore, Louis XVI decided to fund the American revolution is not because sentiments but was angry that the British conquered his territory (Canada). After the escape failed, he and his family were brought to Paris from Versailles, and eventually, he lost all trust from his subjects and was publicly executed.
