The idea of taking a glimpse of reality a fraction of time and storing it on a piece of paper for eternity is but a mere memory of the past to the eyes that see the obscurity of now. This idea of storing time in a paper was in the minds of our ancestors since the 5th century B.C. Imagine the change and the effect of having the power to store and see a moment of life continuously forever. The effect it had on the world and on the people so in love with this magical piece of machinery. It all started out with the camera obscura in the 11th century that the art was born. However the Camera obscura only projected an upside down projection off the image through a tiny hole in a dark room. But photography, as we know it today didn’t start with some projection on a wall so as science improved as well as the technology used, was in the late 1830s in France. Joseph Nicéphore Niépce used a portable camera obscura exposing it to a pewter plate coated with bitumen to light which resulted in the recording the first permanent photo.

As a result, Niépce's experiment led to a collaboration with Louis Daguerre. The result was the creation of the daguerreotype, a forerunner of modern film. Until the 1880s photography was for the professionals until and one guy created this company called Kodak. And from that moment photography went public enabling the people of the world to explore this unknown new form of art in a way that is still unknown to the average consumer. But the main problem for Kodak is that the idea was new to the normal person where you had to send the film to be developed all that time to attain a couple of photos and that costed a good sum of money for the ordinary consumer.
So to solve this problem Polaroid introduced their instant images era, which took the public’s attention more than the Kodak more professional one. Because first it was instant excluding the whole process of sending the film out and receiving after weeks in development, second it was cheaper and easier to use. In 1950s, the world of photography has also shifted with the improvement of technology but now its not France with this major shift but in the small island of Japan. And The Photography world has changed since then, where the Japanese has introduced cameras to the digital world. Thus Introducing SLR cameras which rely on a single lens reflex cameras. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, compact cameras that are capable of making image control decisions on their own were introduced. These 'point and shoot' cameras calculated shutter speed, aperture, and focus, leaving photographers free to concentrate on composition. The automatic cameras became immensely popular with casual photographers, professionals and serious amateurs continued to prefer to make their own adjustments and enjoyed the image control available with SLR cameras.

And as cameras change they become more mobile, affordable, accessible, and easy to use. In the 1980s and 1990s, numerous manufacturers worked on cameras that stored images electronically. The first of these were point-and-shoot cameras that used digital media instead of film. By 1991, Kodak had produced the first digital camera that was advanced enough to be used successfully by professionals. Other manufacturers quickly followed and today Canon, Nikon, Pentax, and other manufacturers offer advanced digital SLR (DSLR) cameras. The Technology now available in stores is fully integrated with all the technology that you can put in a camera. An LCD touch screen to begin with, a wireless connection for photo transfer, the ability to upload photos directly to your phone without any cables, space for thousands of photos, bluetooth capability, digital simulation for the picture you’re about to take. The technological advancements are huge with cameras no being produced that are not SLR type cameras they do not use a mirror or a single lens. The technology is based on tech rather than mirrors. As you can see the camera started as a small room to as small as in your smartphone small. Nowadays we carry cameras all day long everyday packed with top notch technology that shoot pictures instantly and in the best quality possible.

And we take these photos and share them with whom ever we want and share it to the world. Also to add nowadays teens take photos daily in the form of snaps to each other daily. Imagine the revolution of the camera since the start of everything in the small room they squeezed a hole through it and project the photo upside down to taking picture with devices smaller than our hands and sharing it to our friends and family all over social media. This is one of the most crucial advances in history.
