One of the most monumental and important moments in the history of the US was in 1787 when the US signed its constitution. This document was created to protect the unalienable rules of every individual. There is no doubt that the Constitution solved a big amount of problems and difficulties, but the problem of discrimination and segregation was not solved. Nowadays, we live in a century of technological progress, but still, there are a lot of examples when we are able to see the difference in wealth or power status.

The first example of discrimination in the US was slavery, as white people tended to work indoors, while black people were forced to work outdoors. After the Civil War, the authority made a lot of effort to solve this important problem. The government accepted the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments. Unfortunately, bullying against African people continued to exist. Thereby, I think that people did not accept new amendments to the full, as the true work should be done in the homes of every family.

In 1865 there was a list of special rules called “Black Codes.” This document was a list of rules for black people, as there were some restrictions for them in all aspects of human life. Moreover, this document represented to African people that they were not able to live and work whatever they want. Also, during this period, there were special schools, universities, and hospitals for colored people. I believe that it was enormously hard for these groups of individuals to live in the US.

Another important issue was that a lot of schools had discrimination policies. Thus, because of the lack of tolerance policies in schools, a lot of black children were forced to attend special schools or even live without a normal education. To my mind, the most notable example of the discrimination in school was in 1951 in Kansas when a little girl was rejected to study in a normal all-white elementary school. After this Brown told that schools for white and black children were not equal and that the only way for colored children to obtain a good education is to study whatever they want. Moreover, this situation disturbed the 14th amendment. Also, there were several more cases with the same idea, and the Supreme Court was forced to solve this problem. Nevertheless, these cases forced people to start a civil rights movement across the whole country.

The most popular example of this problem today is discrimination in the workplace. For example, when a company pays a man more than women for the same amount of work or tasks. Moreover, even the colored men receive less money for the work than a normal white man. Therefore, white men are the head of this problem, as usually, they are the directors or CEOs of different corporations and companies. According to several researchers, the gap salary between genders decrease from 1990, but still, this gap is an obstacle for a lot of people. Also, there is another type of discrimination called Islamophobia, as people after the September 11 attack people started to hate a group of people who are Muslims. Therefore, they are still unwelcome in the US, as there were a lot of cases when Muslims were attacked by other people. The amount of these attacks decrease in the last several years, but a lot of people still do not like this group of people.

To my mind, there are a lot of cases of unfair treatment against a particular individual or a group of people. All these things are called discrimination. This problem occurs a very long time ago in the US, but unfortunately, this obstacle is very popular and significant now.
