Conquering Laziness: Overcoming a Common Human Weakness
It is normal that most people have common weaknesses such as selfish, greedy, laziness, and jealous. They can bring people not only negative effects but also positive effects. It is thought that almost all students have the same enemy called laziness. Some of them overcome the difficulties in fighting against this insurmountable problem and succeed, while others fail or even give up the chance to defeat this enemy. From my perspective, it is true that laziness is a student’s worst enemy though they have other flaws such as dishonest, jealous or even pride. Also, if they have a strong mind to overcome it, there is a method.
Different students may have different enemies. For example, students who have high marks and always be praised by parents or teachers will be proud of their successful, and the result of this thought is “conceit makes one lag behind”. But most students all have the same weakness which is laziness. The reason for being laziness is various. One factor that can lead to laziness is procrastination. Procrastination influences the motive of laziness directly. Students do not complete their homework in time and ask for handing in late. As time goes by, the passion for them to get done the work is less. Hence, procrastination only makes things harder and entertains laziness.
Without a doubt, there are many methods to defeat laziness. First of all, the main thing to overcome procrastination is that if something can be completed now and have the time, they should do it as soon as possible. Second of all, students should be able to choose the course they want or have an interest in it. As the saying goes “Interest is the best teacher”. If students are engaged and they find interest in what they learn, it will be much easier than studying tedious knowledge. Most students do not pay attention to things they dislike. Also, they should not be forced to adapt to the system of institutional education such as duck-filling teaching, this kind of system is designed to turn them into mindless robots. Lastly, for those students who have less ability in studying, they should do some easy tasks to build self-confidence. If they do the tasks which they cannot afford, the pressure they put on themselves will add up to their laziness. The only feeling in this situation they have is the desire to give up even though they are not yet beginning. If they solve the easier tasks successfully, they will have the confidence to move on to more difficult ones. In conclusion, laziness is literally the worst enemy again study. But there is always a way to overcome, such as do the work passionately as soon as possible, cultivate an interest in what they really like, and do the work which is suitable for their ability. Studying is definitely a difficult thing to do and have many obstacles, but there is no doubt that it gives great benefit.
